16G vs 8G

I don't store music, don't play any games, I MIGHT stream a movie or music. But I got 16 GB, via two 8gigers(one for me and one for the wife/family) won't be a problem for us.

Like others, I bought the 16GB because that is what Staples had. I was originally going to buy the 8GB for the psychological impact. Yes, it is only $50 more, but it is much easier to sell my wife on purchases under $200!

I thought that too, at first, but realized I wouldn't be dragging my 360 around outside of the home lol. Also, I paid $217 for the 16GB, no taxes on that "No Tax School Week" at Wal Mart.

Niiiice ...and I thought my 16Gb Nexus 7 for $224.99 out the door was a bargain!

I had a PS Vita game that was a gift, and they let me "refund it" towards the price of the N7. It would have been $249.99 w/o taxes, but for $32.05 off as well I went down to $217.94. :) I was happy about that.

Got 16 gb. One reason games. Had that bad boy full day one. Some games I'll delete when I beat them like shadow gun since once it is beaten why play it again. Plus I have it on my phone too. Racing games like hot pursuit I'll prob keep on due to replay value.

I bought an 8 gig N7 because I really could not justify a 25% cost increase for 8GB more storage. In general $50 is not much but relative to the base price it is. Besides I intended this tablet is to be my "beater" tablet so the cheaper the better. Not that I am literally going to beat on it but I wanted something that I could use every day, take with me everywhere and not worry about it getting lost, stolen, broken etc.

If it ultimately turns out that 8Gb is just not enough storage space then I will just go and buy a 16gb version and pass this one to my wife or kids. However so far it has proven to be more than sufficent for my needs.

I have the 8gb because I will never need 16gb. I stream everything. I have WiFi basically everywhere I go. And if I need it on the road. I will just move files then.

I have a favorite uncle who liked to say "it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have."

rooting and picking up USB OTG to use external cards, the 8gb is fine for you.

What's rooting?

I bought an 8 mb Nexus 7. I'm not interested in using it for music and not into gaming. I will use it mostly for showing photos that I've already edited, uploaded to photo hosting sites and then download to the tablet.

This. I'll be purchasing my 8GB in a couple days :)

I'm going to be developing Android apps, so I want the better device. And at just $50 more, why not...
It's nice to have the latest and greatest once in awhile.

Certain read/write speeds are better on the 8gb model. So labeling the 16gb as the "greatest" is just silly.

Everything is moving to the cloud broseph.

I would think when he said "better" device he meant better because it has more storage.

But on a side note, the 16GB did seem slightly faster than the 8GB overall. Though I'm guessing it's not enough anyone would probably notice the difference.

I always get the most storage I can on these things. There was also an article a week or so ago that said the 16 GB has marginally faster read/write speeds because it can access two memory modules instead of the one in the 8 GB. Nothing you would notice day to day, but it's another feather in the 16 GB's hat.

Walmart only has the 16gb so they kinda forced me to get the 16gb one...:D

I got 8gb. I'm mainly using it for home automation controlling lights, climate, controlling Sonos and some browsing. Music is on Sonos system and stored on file server or streaming Pandora. Will never come near using 16gb. I looked at my phone (Galaxy Nexus) had used only 1Gb out of 32Gb so figured I'd never come near 16Gb. For travel I take my Transformer 300 and load movies on a micro SD card.
