I am having a hell of a time trying to find one of these....I found a few on Amazon, but from brands I have never heard...I would like a SanDisk one most likely, atleast class 4, and 16GB. but I cant find one on Amazon, Newegg, Bestbuy, etc....

What exact ones are you guys getting (with links please)?

I'm curious about the brand Topram, which has a 16 gb class 4 sold on amazon and buy.com for about $40 with shipping.

Anyone familiar with that brand?

Speed. Data transfer rate goes higher as class goes higher. But the limiting factor will probably be the device. This might be why HTC threw in a class 2 card. On the Hero, HTC said that anything over class 2 is a waste of money because the phone won't be able to handle the higher transfer rate anyway.

The only brand I recognize on that list is Kingston, and all I can find are class 10, and thats $100!....The other Kingston's classes are not listed.

I know radioshack had them on sale last week for 49$

That with the 10$ coupons floating around puts them at a decent price

Sorry, they are name brand to me. The only one I don't recognize is Centon. Adata is big in Computer RAM, Tanscend does a lot of cards, as well as DaneElectric. I hadn't heard of the other company listed here from Amazon.

Ahh! Finally an answer from HTC. Excellent information.

Why get class 4 when you can get class 6? It's faster.
Why get a class 6 when you can get a class 10? Mostly cost and who knows if the device can even benifit from the added speed.

What are the differences in class? Is it a quality scale?
* Class 2: 16 Mbit/s (2 MB/s)
* Class 4: 32 Mbit/s (4 MB/s)
* Class 6: 48 Mbit/s (6 MB/s)
* Class 10: 80 Mbit/s (10 MB/s)

Not saying you are wrong, but can you post a source? I would like to read the article.

Its not an article and I couldn't find it when I looked for it. It was a response from Tech Support at HTC when someone asked about card speed. It was that the Hero specifically (not necessarily the Evo) wouldn't be able to read at a higher rate than class 2. Its more than doable for anything I do on the phone, even watch movies. Backing up the card to the hard drive is where I wish I had that faster speed.

If you transfer a lot of music or any other files onto your device, the device read speed is irrelevant. It's a lot faster transferring stuff to the card with a class 6+ then a class 2.

is this the same for the EVO

Sandisk Mobile Ultra 16gb MicroSDhc (class4)W/card reader

I bought last night on ebay from a seller named: UHAGGLE, a Sandisk Mobile Ultra 16gb MicroSDhc (Class 4) with a card reader, new in the original sealed package, for $64.99 with free shipping. I thought that was a good price.

I searched all over the Internet to find a Sandisk, as I trust them more then a brand I don't know anything about.

Good luck guys!
