On my second day with the 1700mAh Battery, thought I would post up and share my thoughts.
So far it's been great. I might be able to go without carrying around a charger, just in case anymore! Any of us that have this phone knows that getting more then 8 hours of standby time, 4-5 of real use, of this awesome phone means that all the stars have lined up in your favor.
This Battery might have changed that for me. Some context: As I said before, in the past I have made sure not to leave the house without some sort of way to charge the Droid Pro. I came from a BB 8530 (before that 8330) and was used to getting several days out of a charge. This phone was different, as I learned with most Android phones, since carrying my charger at work I have become friends with everyone who's phone has a micro USB port for charging (most of them android phones: X, D2, 4G's). Summing it up: At the end of EVERY day, my Droid Pro was either yellow or dead.
Yesterday and today were not the case. I have taken the phone off the charger at the start of my day (roughly 5am - 7am) and after moderate use, and consistent checking of the battery life, by the end of (around 6-8pm) my day I have been with with 40%-30%. It's very cool knowing that by the time I reach the end of my day I might still have a couple of hours of life left in the battery to go out, instead of running home to see if anyone is trying to get a hold of me. Or worse keep the phone on a charger hoping that nobody gets brave and decides to steal it.
So over the past couple of days I have made a point to keep my phone off the charger from about 5am to 8pm, finding myself with around 30%-40% of life left in the battery when normally it would be dead. I'd say that average daily use includes a couple dozen texts, several emails, couple hours on calls, data use and music played from SD card.
For anyone who loves this awesome little phone, but is finding that they are tired of worrying about the battery life this $50 upgrade so far has been worth it. Plus the extended battery adds enough weight to the phone to make it feel more solid, which I enjoy.
I also just did the manual update to gingerbread, so I am I not sure if that plays anything into the improved battery life. I feel as if I should note that about the same time that I got the battery I also did the update...
