2.1 Lite!!! Option 4

Most likely it won't be usable as a daily ROM until we get a source code for it. Someone put the SDK on top of Toast's Kernal and got quite a bit working, but people can't hear you on the phone (opposite of the problems with 2.1).

When someone calls me and leaves a voicemail I get a SMS from Android Notification or something like that. Will installing the Visual Voicemail thing fix that?

Thats how you get away with not answer the phone.lol.Thanks for what we talked about i compiled from it testing so far is going good.;)

the visual voicemail is actually just a sms hack, it intercpets the sms, which then tells it to downloads the voice file into the app.

@beezy

First, thanks for a great rom. Second, I need some help. The only thing holding back a working OpenVPN setup is a tun.ko complied for this rom (if I understand the research). Can you please compile a tun.ko to be placed in the /system/lib/modules directory?

I've tried several different tun.ko s but no luck. insmod returns a Exec fault error. OpenVPN Settings returns:
"FATAL: Cannot allocate TUN/TAP dev dynamically"

Thank you

Been using this ROM for a few weeks now, and LOVE IT!

Just have one question.

Do I need to do anything else to prevent my phone from doing an OTA update? Or is that all taken care of in the build?

Thanks for all your hard work!

You should be fine.If the update does somehow come threw just choose cancel don't download it.

In order to use Apps2SD with this ROM, do I have to partition the SD card before flashing?

Reason I ask is because I've been running this ROM for quite a few months now, and I'm getting low on space. I would like to be able to move a few apps over to the SD card without having to completely wipe my phone again.

Or if there is some other alternative, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

I didn't think anyone ran this rom anymore. There's newer more up to date roms.If you want to enable apps2sd,then you need to just partition the sdcard with a ext2.You should be able to partition it and then reboot and not lose any data.Make sure to back up your sdcard to your pc first cause it will erase it when you partition.

Yea, I know I'm behind the curve, but this ROM just flat out worked. Really didn't feel a need to change until recently.

So tell me....If you had to suggest a Sense based ROM currently, what would you recommend?

I'd really like the ability to selectively store apps to SD without the need for partitioning. Is this even possible? I know it is with CM6 ROMs, but just curious if their are any Sense ROMs offering this feature. I'm also aware that you've been helping out with the 2.2.1 Sense ROM, but I see that the camera is still an issue, and I can't really afford to lose that.

Anyway. Any help/suggestions you can offer would be much appreciated. I can't imagine how annoyed I'd be with the Hero if it weren't for people like you making better software for it. Keep up the good work!!!!

Thanks again!

If i was to suggest another rom it be [ROM] NFX Sprint 2.31.651.7 STOCK Deoxed/Odex Updated:10/14/2010 - xda-developers anything by nfinite. He's is a kicka** developer.Almost any 2.1 rom uses his work. The moving apps to sd is part of 2.2.If you make a ext2 partition you shouldn't habe any problems with space on that rom.Ive ran it.Nice to see that you kept on eye on the 2.2.1 Camera is one of those things that is just a down right pain in the ***.We all still try to get it going.

Just flashed it

Hey, I think this ROM would be sweet if I could get it working right.
I flashed it from the .zip using ClockworkMod. It loads to the unlock screen & then gives this error:

"The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

If I hold the power button I get the option to reboot, silent mode, vibration mode, airplane mode, & mobile network on/off.

EDIT: I also just got this"The application Google Partner Setup (process com.google.android.partnersetup) has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try again."

I'd try wiping everything again and reflashing.I do want to add that this rom is out of date. This is from the very first 2.1 released for the hero.
If wiping doesn't seem to get it going then i would say try this rom and see if it give you the same problem. http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...-32-651-2-odex-a2sd-updated-11-23-2010-a.html

so does this work for a none sprint hero??? all i am finding anywere is for sprint and there is a few apps out there that i want but need to be rooted stupid security issues all over the place mostly i just want the screen shot app and also if i root my phone on my 2gb card will my 8gb card be normal??

When you root the phone it does not alter the sd card in any way. It is only used to transfer files to the phone.

The only way to take a screen shot of the phone with the Hero is through a rooted phone with an app or with the SDK package. I have not used to SDK to take a screenshot, but there is a how-to I believe done a while back by Androidcentral. Search for it on the site.

Here's a quick "how to" with the sdk package. It's super easy.
Go to the tools folder of android sdk,
look for "ddms" double click it,that will open a command prompt just wait a big menu will pop up just plug the phone in click on the serial number it's the top line. Then just go to "Device" at the top, click it and choose screen capture it will open a little display that show exactly what you see on your phones screen.
