2.2 Froyo Update - Report & Find Solutions to Issues Here (post #1 & 2 updated 8/8)

Bluetooth issue

I am experiencing bluetooth issues with my Acura Automobile. When I get in and it shows it's paired, my car says it's not. Then when I do set it to pair and it shows it, it still is not. This is a repeatable error. Have you heard anything about this? I have to restart my phone each time.

At first I found my OTA installation of Froyo mediocre, and noticed no improvement and possibly a decline in internet browsing performance. I changed plugins to "on demand" with little effect. I did a hard reset, which GREATLY improved things, but after awhile, things seemed to be getting worse, and eventually the browser would sometimes just partially download a page and almost freeze incomplete. Sometimes the page would eventually pop open abruptly, but more often I lost patience and closed the browser. I soon got a message (I don't remember the exact words unfortunately) saying that dictionary.com was causing a problem, and encouraging me to force close it. Naturally, I did, and browsing performance improved greatly! I'd had Dictionary.com installed, and had been using the word of the day widget from them. I uninstalled both, and performance browsing was better than it had ever been. This went on for a couple of days, and I decided that I must have been over-reacting on Dictionary.com, so I installed the application and the widget again. Browsing performance slowly deteriorated, over enough days that I forgot about the reinstalled application. Today things became intolerable, the browser was stalling out regularly on web pages of any size, and not doing too well on mobile webpages. Early this evening, I got a familiar error message, warning me that Dictionary.com was causing problems, and inviting me to force close it. I did so, and immediately went to uninstall the app and widget. Once again, browsing performance improved significantly!

This probably only affects a few people, but if your browser performance is sluggish after Froyo, and you have Dictionary.com installed, try uninstalling it! To my knowledge, I never had this problem on 2.1.

Just know that some apps are not 100% with 2.2 yet. After the hard reset I took a little time and read through comments on the market to see if apps play nice with 2.2

Seems like it would help a lot if you just took a couple minutes and did that before installing apps. Just keep them in mind and check to see when they're updated. Good luck.

Let me know how it works for you maybe I will have to try a reset.

Did it last night and so far.....IT WORKS!!! (thanks splmonster & Cory Streater)

:D

Now my 2ndary email is having the no sync issue again but i'm gonna do the workaround like i did last time to get it back on track.....

Does a hard reset mess with my pictures on the sd card or remove contact info or does that stuff all stay the same?

not sure if anyone noticed yet, but if you DL spare parts, there is an option to check for compatibility mode for older apps from older builds.
I dont run a ton of apps, but i have had no problems yet app wise with force closes or anything with this checked on default.

Hard reset will not touch SD card. I would suggest moving important files from SD card to a computer, formating the SD card, and moving files back again. If you're going for a fresh start... might as well go all out.

Contacts will all erase, but if you're syncing with Gmail contacts it's easy as syncing again when your phone resets.

Sweet deal :) Yeah, AFAIK (and I admittedly haven't had time to keep up with all the various threads), the Gmail issue continues to haunt some people.

-----------

On a separate note, if you guys see any inaccuracies or missing issues in the first thread, I would greatly appreciate a PM. Unfortunately, I've spent about as much time on this thread as I can. As a pre-requisite for reporting an issue, please ensure someone else is also having the same problem.

here's a possible GMAIL fix, worked for me when my other gmail accounts weould not sync

Like many here I was having the same "no sync" problem with my non-primary gmail accounts. Here is how I fixed my issue. YMMV.......
NOTE: There might be a shorter way, but I will state exactly what I did verbatim.

1) Made sure my accounts were setup for sync.
(Setting-> Accounts & Sync)

2) Went to Settings->Applications->Manage Application->ALL->Gmail and Pressed the clear data button.

3) At this point I was getting Force Closed issues when I clicked on my GMAIL Unread count widget. Just go to the App Tray and load up the gmail app. It will will give you a message asking you to wait for mail to set up. I just cancelled out.

4) Rebooted

5) err message on my secondary gmail unread count widget went away.

6) Sent a test email to my secondary gmail account and 5 seconds later (literally...I timed it)...it popped up on my phone.

I have since received a handful of emails from various sources and things are looking good.

Hope this helps.

I still haven't updated to froyo...not particularly happy about the different issues people are having..is it still worth it to update despite all these problems ? I don't care much for flash unless a netflix app were to come out out something interesting like that which might require flash

As most people have said, 2.2 is about under the hood changes. You're not really going to notice a lot.

As far as issues, most have been resolved after completing a hard reset, although I have a feeling an update is going to come out soon enough.

Gees. This has got to be the worst update ever. Glad I held off. Now-a-days I always do. Let other people be the guinea pigs and jump on after all the bugs get ironed out. So thanks to everyone for trying it right away. Please keep doing that with all your hardware so I can keep avoiding trouble with mine. Now I've got a suspicion that the unofficial Froyo update that had been being worked on by the community will actually be a better update before Sprint works out all these bugs. Heck, it may already be, I haven't checked the status in a couple of weeks.

Hey nice and smug...cool it. Either read and learn and contribute or don't. But don't demean the people that updated before you.

Anyone having trouble with YouTube.. every time I click it a box pops up and says my Google account change... I can't watch any videos on YouTube no more

I did a "System updates" and HTC software update to get 2.2. Now I have the same problem with tethering which use to work before the upgrade. I enable 4G which it connects, then when I connect and try to use the USB tethering, 4G disconnects and constantly tries to reconnect. (I removed app killer also). Am I missing some new option that needs to be enabled?

Im stock, i updated to the 2.2 OTA real version, and I do not see flash 10.1 in my applications...never have seen it..how can I get it?
