Have you gotten your "OTA" yet?

I got the OTA last night (Wednesday, 23rd) around 8 or 9 pm.

My ATT N1 was stock, hadn't rooted or anything.

Froyo rocks! It's so fast

No, you did not get a direct OTA from EPE54B to FRF83. But nice try trying to get everyone to envy you. I guess Google monitors all phone traffic, happened to find yours, and say "well, he seems like a swell guy. we'll push the OTA out to him and ONLY him so he can be the envy of the Android community."

Either a fake screenshot or you followed the "non-official" upgrade path.

Dude, your latest posts are nothing but anger, and flamebait. Take that stuff somewhere else. I am kindly letting you know this now, because the next reminder you get wont be as friendly, and it wont be from me.

I apologize that you feel that way. But making incorrect posts that have absolutely zero points of reference or proof behind them are more "flame-bait" than someone contradicting it with solid reasoning.

Hey, I am letting you know before a Admin does. Just trying to be friendly and keep things civil in here, thats all I ask.

I am not trying to make things uncivil whatsoever. But if someone makes an outlandish post that completely contradicts what the entire N1 user base has determined as a whole, I'm going to call them out on it. There was no cursing or name calling done on my part (except maybe my partial joke regarding wanting to be the envy of the Android world).

And I without a doubt fully respect the mods and admins here. And if what I said in this post was considered out of line and deemed so by them, I'll retract/delete it and apologize. But I don't feel any guilt for pointing out an obvious lie.

ock is right. If their were an upgrade for AT&T from EPE54B to FRF83, there wold have already been a captured Google link to the file back when I posted the link to FRF72 to FRF83 file, not to mention it would be all over xda as well.

Not to worry.

I have a difficult time carrying a grudge on the net, because I evaluate each post for content, not source, and as such I'm usually unaware who said what.

I grew a skin.

Tell me how to prove it and I'll prove it.

I'm not lying about this. And it's amazing the amount of heat directed at me for posting that I got the update. I have no idea why I got the update but I did.

And I'm not the only one. Here are two articles that say more than one person got it the same night I did:

[apparently I can't post links to articles yet. Google "computerworld blog nexus one froyo" and then also "engadget Nexus One getting Android 2.2 FRF83 update over the air?"

If there is indeed no way to prove it, then I guess you all have a right to be skeptical since it seems to be a very small number of handsets that got the OTA.

Again, if someone can tell me how to prove it I will happily do it.

I didn't realize forum posters were supposed be held to the same standards as reporters.

Someone at another Android forum suggested I take a picture of the About screen and then another of the boot screen. Instead I shot video showing that the phone is running Froyo FRF83 on ATT 3G and the bootloader has not been unlocked (no unlock icon when booting):

Screen shots don't mean anything, you don't need to be unlocked/rooted to manually apply a Google supplied ROM. I don't doubt you, maybe you did get the AT&T OTA, I'm not here to judged. I just find it extremely odd that an OTA AT&T update went out that upgraded you from EPE54B (the stock AT&T ROM, not the ERE27 that belongs to T-Mobile's ROM) to FRF83, that's a big file, around 45MB+ and yet nobody captured the Google server link for that file. Something like that would be posted over at XDA. What size was the file you got? What's the name of the file?

Thus far we know that Google has sent out over T-Mobile ERE27 to FRF50 at around 46MB, FRF50 to FRF72 at around 2MB, FRF50 to FRF83 at around 2MB, and FRF72 to FRF83 at 644KB.

I thin ock has nothing to worry about from the Admins.

His posts are get props from Phil. They are factual and unambiguous, unlike most of GenericMessages posts.

So I am nonfactual from posting links to news articles and asking peoples opinions?

See all I did was post a news article about a OTA that was going out. Not a 2.1 to 2.2, not any of that. And then I asked if others have gotten it yet or not.

So to troll this forum, and act like a jerk, is completely inappropriate.

Guys, can't we all get along? If not I'll simply close this thread and be done with it. And I'd hate to do that...

This is crazy guys, although it makes good reading on a slow work day. It is only an update that can be downloaded manually. Even Att folks can do it, somehow. Or so I read. The only good thing is the flash, which is what I mainly bought the phone for. Except for a larger screen than my BB had, to help with my aging eyes. What did we do before smartphones and forums like this. Probably spent more time with family and friends. How some of you guys can have +1,000 posts in a year or less is beyond me. I was on the BB forums fors years and never topped 400. :)

We all know now that there is no official OTA. Google should have corrected this misinformation when it started to get out of hand. Some employees on forums did comment on it, but no official Google announcement that I am aware of.

I believe some people did, accidentally, get the OTA like, GenericMessage and some probably misposted. It is not that hard to believe with the massive amount of info on the web and in company databases that some nonintended names made that original, small list.

In the words of the infamous Rodney King, a personal hero.

Can't we all just get along!

As noted by Jeremy above, which I didn't see. Percoset does wonders on the mind.

We could talk about why I can't connect to WebSharing's IP address and they won't answer my email. Time for a Market comment.

I don't know what the size of the file was or what the name of it was. My phone just prompted me on Wednesday night that a system update was available and would I like to update it. So I said yes and it probably took about 10 minutes to run the update.

Come on people. Lets all calm down. I had no intention of starting a flamewar. Lets stick to the topic.

J-Mar, I still call bluff. I don't doubt that you're running Froyo on your N1 with AT&T (which you clearly proved). But knowing how big of a deal the whole Froyo update has been, I find it odd that you failed to document any of the actual OTA with photos or videos. ;-)

That's all for now. I'll save more reasoning for later.
