2.2 rolling out on Nexus now? Evo hopefully soon?

I can answer one thing for you, and that's no they will not have Sense. Sense is an HTC UI put over the stock Android UI. And to my understanding, HTC and the Sense UI are what really lag the OS updating process when it comes to Sense featured phones. If you get Froyo on the Evo anytime before it's officially released, it will most likely not have Sense on it; if it does, it will be 2.1 Sense or something along those lines.

I am not so sure you understand custom ROMS. Once the 2.2 Kernel is released (shortly), there will be a a few devs furiously working to make 2.2 work with a rooted Evo...

Franken-FroYo at the very least... ahem. BTW, someone remind me to come back to this post in 10 days.

EVO will take much longer to get Froyo

I'm hungover ha ..

But I just saw this post on techcrunch. He's claiming that he got the 2.2 update late last night. Sooo.. evo should get it sooner than later?

A Late Night Froyo Treat! Android 2.2 Goes Live On The Nexus One

Edit: I found the same thing on the Engadget site. They're actually confirming (via twitter) that some people are getting it. Still possible for the Evo to get froyo at launch, or soon after?

Android 2.2's Froyo goodness hitting the Nexus One already? (update: just press so far) -- Engadget

The Sprint EVO will take much longer to get Froyo because HTC has to recustomize it to use the Sense UI. I wouldn't expect Froyo for the EVO until sometime in the fall. That is the price we pay for using Sense, but I think it is worth it. That is not to say that someone won't provide a hacked ROM for the EVO with Froyo. You just wouldn't be able to use Sense anymore.

There is a video on this site that shows you how to turn off sense on the Evo, could you do this and then put Froyo on it and switch back and forth? Is this possible? Forgive my ignorance, I am new to Android format, hell I don't even have an android phone. Hopefully I will on the forth.

Nope. A rooted phone will be stock Android. The "rooting" will wipe the phone out and replace it with the root. In this case Froyo 2.2. So, Sense will not be on the rooted phone. Sorry.
