2.3.4 Rolling out now. Official thread HERE!!

I know the OTA is suppose to be rolling out, but has anyone actually received it? or is everyone trying to impatiently update manually?

Our office Nexus S received an OTA notification but we didn't install it yet. I'm from the Philippines.

I revieved my ota yesterday and downloaded it this morning. Went very smoothly. I was coning from 2.3.1 so that may be why I got my ota early.

Got the OTA update from 2.3.2 to 2.3.4 this morning and boy is it yellow. At this point I'd give back the video chat feature if it meant I could get rid of the horrible yellow.

What was Google thinking? :-(

Still waiting for the OTA for my Nexus S from Negri. It's killing me because it seems like the GT-I9020A is the only Nexus S that doesn't have a downloadable system update from XDA. I want me some gtalk video chat lol

Don't get the update.

The battery meter will only hover around 97 - 98 percent when fully-charged. Then for no usage at all (even with network, wifi and gps turned off), your battery will show a significant juice drain of around 8 to 10 percent in an hour.

Don't be eager to update. Google has screwed up this time.

the first paragraph of your post is insanely ignorant and rude, I can't believe you would even make a comment like that, disgusting.

To your other points. I am on 2.3.3 and I show 95% when my phone says it is full charged and similar battery behavior that you claim is specific to 2.3.4

Wow edited by Admin..... anyway:

I think some folks get too caught up in trying to get their batteries to 100%. In reality, that's one of the worse things to do to an Lithium-Ion battery. Their optimum range is like 90%-30%. Below 30% is bad, too, but I think full charge may be worse. The worst thing for Li-Ion batteries is heat.

My advise: Don't obsess on the actual numbers, but rather how long is your phone lasting? Mine lasts a full day (18 hours or so) no problem. Display is always 50% or more of my battery usage, and i finish with about 20-30% or so left.

With 2.3.4, I've noticed that battery life seems somewhat better than 2.3.2. System processes seem to stay in the single digits now in the battery usage department. But my NS has always dropped to 95% the minute I unplug it.

If yours is draining at 10% per hour, that's a battery issue or you have a rouge process running. 2.3.4 probably changed the algorithms of how it reports the battery life, so it doesn't surprise me that it would look alarmingly different from 2.3.2 or earlier.

Thanks. You are correct. There was indeed a rogue app running in the background.

Nevertheless, there is something disturbing about seeing the battery meter peaking at less than 100%. Maybe it's psychological but I hate seeing the phone at less than 100%.

However, the screen looks horrible after the upgrade to 2.3.4. It now looks like my nephew just pissed on my phone. Whites when compared next to Samsung Galaxy S look stained yellow. Why can't Google just let white be white? (Not meant racially, of course.)

Hi guys,

I just wanted to let you all know that there is a new version of Tango that is available on the Android Market. It has addressed the front facing camera issues for the Nexus S running 2.3.4.

Cheers!

All in all my update went good. The video chat on TMobile is odd. I know Google stressed it was carrier specific. Plus they say 3G, 4G, and Wifi. However I can't use my in 3G. It says I need Wifi. Although I can use it on the edge network. Lol

One problem I've been experiencing is random keyboard problems. I'll click in a box to type and stock keyboard will pop up. When you start typing, nothing shows up. I have to fiddle with it for a few to get it working again like close the keyboard or the window and try again.

As for the yellow screen. I'm not a fan of it at all. But we've had to suffer with it since the change in 2.3.3.

Tom
