Xenozu is great for watching YouTube videos. It's a bit limited - you can't sign in to YouTube and see your subscriptions etc so you have to serach for what you want - but subject to that limitation it works well. Doesn't half drain the battery though!

Also Five Tiles SMS makes quick typing of texts easier - once you get the hang of it.

Did you have any trouble getting Swing by Swing to be available in the Gear Apps Store? I have a Galaxy S5 Active and a Gear 2 Neo and Swing by Swing Companion does not appear in the Gear Apps. Swing by Swing has been very response, but can't seem to understand why it doesn't appear and Samsung says it needs to go to the App developer or get the APK. Thks

Apps depend on what you need in your daily life or what you prefer. My free apps list:

CNN FREE
Bullet News FREE
Watch Styler FREE
Opera Mini web browser FREE
Tip calculator FREE
Wrist list FREE

When I'm at home, my Gear S is always connected to my Wi-Fi. So I can read news.

Gear navigator - $$
Calendar pro - $$
Klokker - $$

The last one is a recent app to store your passwords. I'm getting older so I think I'm losing memory! Sometimes I have to open a text file on my desktop where I write all my passwords, to login somewhere.

I always look for apps that can make my life easier.

I had Watch Styler and Gearam Music ID on my Note 2 with my Gear S. I recently switched to a Galaxy S6 Active and I can no longer find these apps in any app store. Can anybody tell me what's up with that. I used an APK extractor to pull them from my Note2, and they appear to install just fine, but crash upon opening them and then disappear. Note 2 is a 4.x release, S6 is Lollipop.

I ordered my watch now researching apps. Why is the calendar pro app needed? I thought you can view/receive notifications from phobe calendar?
I have business calendar Pro on my phone and get notification on my watch. As nice the keyboard is to have on the watch, it is to small for my fat fingers. I rarely use it.

Any facebook app for gear s?

You can use opera mini browser. I use it for gmail, but you can also use it for facebook, twitter and google+
Techisode TV on youtube did a video on it (How to get Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and more on the Samsung Gear S!), but you probably won't need it (it's pretty straightforward).

To resurrect an old thread I found some apps that are must have for me as being an outdoor enthusiast during the hotter time of year. A developer, outofnoware piqued my interest query a keyboard app called APE and the Gear Store being such a mess to search for things on I finally do searches using the developers names of ones I already have. I came across this
7a92dfe8e4c6b2657d986792a31d76f1.jpg

that costs $1.99 U.S. while doing a search. Also a weather app by the same guy is just as nice to have, though not free either. What I like about them is how standalone capable they are , quick to load and easy to use. Since I do a lot of outdoor stuff it's nice to have a standalone option if I'm in the woods and hear thunder, out on the water and it gets cloudy and windy. On 2 occasions already I've run into that and the first time it turned out to be a storm heading toward the southeast of me but the second was a stronger storm heading right for my location . I'm in no way associated with the developer I wrote above, just want to pass along there are still good apps for our Gear S1s.
Anybody else finding little gems hidden in the mess of an app store that Samsung has?
