2150 vs 3500 Battery question

I just opened the box with the complimentary HTC 2150 inside. My Dinc now resembles a HUMPBACK WHALE and the battery also increased the phones weight by approximately one ounce. One ounce doesn't sound like much but it's approx a 20% increase in overall weight. Just think if your spouse or significant other gained 20% of their normal weight overnight. It's all relative.

Just got the 2150 today. I'm very happy with the battery life, but I don't know if my battery door is secure like it's supposed to be. Has anyone else noticed that the lower right side of the door (when facing the front of phone) doesn't seem like it will attach firmly to the rest of the device?

That is my only complaint thus far. That one little section doesn't seem like it's as firmly attached as the rest.

Hi Pelican, I don't see any issues with the fit of my 2150. Seems to fit perfect all the way around.

I bought the HTC 2150 last week. It definitely lasts longer than the Sideo 1750 and the size/thickness it adds is actually less than I was expecting, but I probably wont use it every day... just when I know I'll be away from any place to charge for more than 12 hrs.

I took it to Verizon today (two separate stores) and they both told me that my phone feels exactly how it should feel with the extended battery. They definitely noticed what I was referring to in the above post, but they said that is normal. The one Verizon guy told me that his buddy has the 2150 and his feels the same way.

Are they feeding me a line of BS?

It's hard to put into words what the phone feels like now. The phone is secure and isn't falling apart or anything like that. The right side of it just makes a little noise when I put my finger on it (which is why I said it doesn't sound "sturdy"). The left side doesn't do that.

Pelican, I would try suggesting to a manager that they replace it. If it makes a noise now that it didn't before, it's not "right" and that would annoy me also.

the back on the 2150 does not fit "snug" in that spot (Others have noted this as well) You can put a piece of folded up paper under that spot and it will fix the problem.

May have to give that a try. I love the battery life, but that is rather annoying at times.

Care to elaborate on this folded paper trick? If I put it in there, it will rattle around in my phone...won't it?

I would test it for myself right now, but I'm out of town and did not bring my 2150 with me (which was a mistake).

I'm now intrigued by this possible solution.

At least you didn't get this one. Doh !

That looks like a 3500. And let me say... FU! I love my DInc and I love what it can do. The fact that HTC chose to give it such a lame battery is something I will consider in the future when buying a phone... that and Bing, but that is a rant for another time.

I have run into 5 people in my "small town" area with DIncs and everyone who has seen the 3500 battery and actually held it and used it for more than a minute has ordered one and has been very happy with it. So for the ?haters,? get over your diva BS. It?s a tool not a fashion statement. If the bigger battery makes it a better tool? God bless it.

So, to those with the 3500 battery, do you worry about protection? Because I haven't seen any cases that are compatible with the bigger battery.

I just bought mine on Amazon. 53.23$ for the 3500 mah or 49.95 for the 1750.

The deal speaks for itself.

Anyways, it'll be here Tuesday. Can't wait to not have to worry sickeningly over my Dinc ever again. :D

I have the Seidio Extended Case for the Dinc's with the 3500 battery... I dropped my phone for the first time on Wednesday at the Yankee game... Somehow, I was given 4th row seats in the $1,000 per seat section (For free, hell to the no could I afford those)... Irrelevant, yes, but I just had to tell someone... :) Anyway, the seats were right by the Yankee on deck circle and Reggie Jackson started walking by me on the field... I whipped out the phone really quick and it just kept on whipping... Into the aisle... With a sickening thud... The phone is fine, the extended cover absorbed the shock, and I consider that test successful... So yes, my phone is secure, LOL...

Mr. October is an iPhone fanboy. He noticed you had an Android phone, and used his telekinesis in an attempt to destroy your evil device.

I'm going caseless. I do have a screen protector on, but no case. I dropped it once on asphalt and scuffed the back, but within a day or two it had smoothed out on its own and you can't even tell it was scuffed.

At one point, I saw that Seidio was selling just the back for something like $15, but after reading your post, I looked again and could not find it. I was figuring that for $15 I could always get a new back if it was messed up. I guess I'd have to call them to order it if it ever comes to that.

Thanks for the help, guys! I've decided I'll see how it looks/works tomorrow, and then decide if I need a case from there.

Since the battery juts out enough to make the camera not rest on a flat surface (it does, right?), I'm not too worried atm.

Just thought I'd throw out some first impressions on this battery:

It is thicker, yes, although the new battery doesn't affect the way I hold the phone. At all.

I'm not noticing much of a weight increase, though that's probably because I'm used to walking around with a case.

The soft-touch backing feels almost identical to the HTC backing, so that's a plus.

I'm charging it now, so I don't have anything on battery life yet.

Overall, extremely happy with this purchase. :D
