3 Clicks, and I'm on 4.0.4

Are you rooted? Have you deleted any preinstalled apps?

I *was* rooted, but I unrooted it in anticipation of the update.

I have not seen a conclusive statement on this forum about whether being rooted totally prevents the automatic update. Others have asked the question too.

If you are rooted with Clockworkmod as your recovery, the update won't install automatically. You can either install it manually or flash back to stock, unroot and then let it install automatically.

If you use Wug's toolkit to flash back to stock and unroot, it will wipe your device so make a backup first using Wug's toolkit not CWM.

OK, my friend, you nailed it for me. I have CWMod recovery installed. I was hoping that it would not matter, but I'm just some old guy who doesn't know any better.

I have downloaded the full update image and will do it the manual way. It's probably about the same (or less) amount of work and time as flashing back to stock recovery and then doing the automatic update, then re-rooting it for some" fun" later.

Thanks for the help! That's why I come here.

UPDATE: Flashed it manually. No problems. I'm unlocked, rooted, and up-to-date.

Now to watch for improvements. Then I'll start playing ROM Roulette. Maybe.

Who/whom ever came up with this, awesome! Thank you.

Everything is very smooth now. One thing I noticed with the camera is that when you go to focus, the square doesn't change color to let you know if it will be under/over exposed.

What I loved is that when you check for updates, it says it hasn't been checked since August something 1969? Any significance to that date?

I was having issues with this too until i disabled my wifi and got on verizon 4g. Try disabling your wifi if you are on it for those who it didnt work. It could have just been a coincidence but after i diabled my virus and my wifi it worked. Good Luck

Shock for me it worked after about 5 tries. May not of mattered but I turned on wifi then after 2 more times update went through
thanks so much. Back to normal looking emails!!

Awkwardly enough it ONLY worked for me if I unlocked the bootloader first and didn't root. Unlock the bootloader and it'll be waiting for you... why it took that to push it through to me I have not a clue. Literally checked it, unlocked bootloader to root, and it showed up, ignored it (not canceled) and relocked it to be full stock, rebooted and nothing. Booted back onto bootloader and OEM unlock and it showed up again. Win.

It startes to download then i get the pic of the droid bot laying down with a red sign with ! On it. My phone is unlocked.. Not sure if rooted.. Any help?
