3 Clicks, and I'm on 4.0.4

Has anyone had any trouble with installing the update? I've had the push come thru 3 times (including twice using this method) and it'll reboot to the Google splash screen and then just stay there (for 30 min). I have to do a battery pull (verified w/Verizon) to get my phone back. Unfortunately, I remain on 4.0.2.

Very frustrating ...

Worked for me! Second try! Go through the whole process from start to finish if it doesn't work.

Tried it and it didn't work. You have to hit force stop first then hit clear data after it reappears. Then follow instructions as is to update. Worked for me.

So I tried this method and it worked...however, after rebooting the update went about a 1/4 way and then I got the little droid guy with the red triangle on his "stomach". so I called VZW customer service. They couldn't figure it out and now I am getting an replacement GNEX with 4.04 preloaded overnighted to me.

Thank You "datruth585" After doing this about 100 times last night and no success. I tied his method once "clear data" then "manually reboot" When my GNEX came back on there was the update ready to install . Only took about 10 minutes on wifi. We are good to go on 4.0.4!! build IMM76K!! Awsome!!

I tried this several times yesterday with no success. Tried it today and it's installing right now!!! Thanks for this tidbit of information :)

I tried this method countless times over the last 24 hours. FINALLY the update appeared!

It crashed during the installation.

I tried it (the whole process) a second time. Crash.

Third time was not the charm. Crash.

It downloads IMM76K, reboots, and starts the install. Then a pretty little dead robot appears with a red triangle oozing from its guts. A battery pull is the only way to reset it, and it comes back up on 4.02.

Now what??? Any suggestions?

Worked for me on the third try! Though on the third try I forced stopped and then cleared and on the other two I did the opposite. Regardless, I have been waiting patiently for over 6 months and beating the check for update button bloody for two days and finally. Hark I hear the angels singing!

This method so effin' works. I had been hitting the Check for Update button since first heard of the update being pushed and nothing. I went through the 3-click process and in my 2nd attempt I reached Nirvana, update was right there in front of me and it is installing as I type this on my PC.

Waiting to see if indeed I experience improvements during the 3G-4G handoffs as in my daily commute I went through at least two areas where I would experience troubles.

Cheers!

Count me in as a "third time is a charm" club member. Just swapped out my second Nexus, got home and tried this method and it worked. I'm just on wi-fi, no SIM card installed.

Hey all,

This method has worked for some. After my third try, i was prompted to 4.0.4!!!!!

Found this on XDA's website and it worked in N.Y.C queens.

Touch this.

Once it opens clear data and force stop it. Hit home/settings/about phone/check for updates.
May take a few tries.

NO MORE LAG!!!,,, ASU has improved.. everything is smooth now.. especially opening the app drawer. Browser is more fluid.. faster switching to cdma to LTE... camera seems a tad slow compared to 4.0.2. so far so good, Amen!

good luck everyone:)

very first try, :):-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*

Successfully updated after second try!
I didn't seem to lose anything, and 4G signal strength has at least doubled!
THANKS OP!

Note that doing this trick will break push notifications in many apps like Twitter, IMDB, Foursquare, Android Lost, etc. If an app's notifications stop working for you after doing this, the only way to get them going again is to clear the app's data and set it up from scratch.
