360 Cam Error - can't update Essential Phone cam, how can this be fixed?

I have received my essential phone yesterday, bundled with the cam. First time I attached it, it worked. I could take some photos. But there was a popup to update the cam. Which I then did. However, the update failed. Now, whenever I attach it.. only the blue led is glowing, but there is no fan noise nor is the cam app in 360 degree mode.

I have tried to factory reset and downgraded the essential camera app etc. nothing has worked. The installation of the audio-jack, however, has worked. Which is also considered an Essential accessory.

This is really annoying. Is anybody having the same issue?
 
I had the same issue when I received my phone and camera bundle initially. Tried everything, factory reset the phone etc but nothing worked. I thought it was a buggy camera unit or may be the connector pins were not right. I returned both the phone and camera so never followed up on it. Currently, I just bought the phone, so I have seen this happen to me on my first phone but didn't find any solution. If you want to keep the camera you might want to call Essential and probably ask for a replacement.
 
Clicked mine into place yesterday, it ran an update and went from blue to green. Screen shows 360 where the standard shows Auto
