tried that, no luck

Do you have ODIN or Heimdall installed on your computer? You may need to try and update your modem to help out. But first I would try what others have tried in this thread and call vzw tech support and have them do an ESN swap for you.

I dont think ODIN or Heindall will work on a Mac, i could be wrong. What is an ESN swap

3G service has been in an out for the better part of a month. Doesn't affect everyone and seems to affect different people at different times. An ESN swap is where the tech deactivates your phone by activating a dummy ESN (Electronic serial number) for a few minutes, then reactivates your phones ESN. It's worked for everyone who has done it. You have to call vzw tech support, tell them you have no 3G service, you've tried the *228 activation and the factory reset (even though you haven't, but if you tell them you haven't they will tell you to do that and it's useless), and they will do an ESN swap for you. If the ESN swap doesn't fix your 3G, you will need to talk to a tier 2 tech support and have them do a DMU reset.

Oh, and ODIN may not work on a mac, but Heimdall should.

thanks landshark, i will give it a shot

When I called about this problem, I asked if they could do an ESN swap but I didn't have another one to give em, so the tech removed and re-entered my profile info. Had to do *228 and 1 again but it seemed to fix my issue with 3g going dorment almost immediately. Just letting you know that there is an option that verizon can do, if you don't want to go threw 25 minutes of useless troubleshooting.

Sometimes the most simple thing is the solution. Now you get this:

* Facepalm * :p

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but...

I went to CommRom 1.3 and lost all 3G activity. Went back to stock and then followed this process: "One way to "clean install" UKB/ComRom 2.0/2.1". Still didnt have any 3G service so ended up going back to EF 3.6.0 and well.. still no 3G sevice.

Current Info:
Baseband EC09
Build ED01
Kernel 2.6.32.9

I called Verizon Tech Support today and had a DMU Reset done. STILL no 3G service. They offered a replacement phone since there have been no 3G alerts in my area. I told them I'll try the DMU reset for a couple days and see. It hasnt even been 24 hrs and i cannot get any 3G service.

Should i just swap out the phone and re-root back to EF when i get it or should i attempt an ESN swap with my Droid and then back to the Fascinate and hope for the best?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

do the ESN swap first. You can do it online or with customer service. It definitely helped my 3g issues
