4.1.2 On GS3 On Sprint

Nope, I haven't found any solution. I guess most people must just be using IMAP or Exchange email accounts, or don't mind the phone deleting mail from the server, and haven't noticed the issue. INCREDIBLY ANNOYING!

I know the feeling must to well, the same thing happened to me after the latest update and I got the very same response from the Sprint. And I told them know this was the way the phone operated before the update and this is how I wish for it to operate now. Their latest comments were: "you have to live with the current way the phone operates" and before that "we here not to resolve your email issues."

EDIT:NEW ONES ARE UP. WILL POST IN DEV SECTION WITH DESCRIPTION LATER...
WILL PROVIDE LINKS. SEE LINK IN ABOVE POST TO NOTE 2 FOR INFO. THERE IS A MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY::::::
:::::THE 32 AND 16 EACH HAVE THEIR OWN VERSION.... IF YOU FLASH THIS ON A MODEL OTHER THAN THE SPH-L710 OR A STORAGE CAPACITY OTHER THAN YOUR OWN, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE.,
So pay attention and choose wisely.

32GB SPH-L710- Goo.im Downloads -32gb_Sprint_S3

new to this stuff. have a sprint samsung galxey s3 16gb that is a SPH-L710 with the 4.1.2 and a broadband version of L710VPBMB1 (so i guess that means its the MB1 version). Is the file I need to toggle the camera shutter sound on/off the one labeled 16gb_mb1_toggle-One-Click.jar . and is that one file all that I need to download on my S3? or do i need to then download the FIX_part_1.exe file

My s3 is a 16gb which file do I use once I open the link posted here

See in the quoted text where it says "SEE LINK IN ABOVE POST TO NOTE 2 FOR INFO"?

Read post #87 in this thread (it is the "above post"); it has abbreviated instructions. Follow the links in that post and see what they say. But my advice to both of you is this: If you don't clearly understand what you're supposed to do with this file, just put up with the shutter sound. It's not worth screwing up your phone for.

thank you meyerweb. I researched and talked to some people about what I was doing and how the files would work. They helped walk me through it and cleared up all the sticking points I was having. I wrote down step by step and watched a youtube video by billard412 on rooting the S3 (same steps just different file). After all that felt comfortable doing the download an install of the camera toggle. Happy to report that all went great. Thank you all again

Sorry to bring up an old thread but since updating to md4 the shutterr sound toggle disappeared. I was able to add the toggle on my phone without rooting using billard412's one touch odin link. I believe I added it when I had lj7 but noticed the toggle disappeared when trying to take a pic of my son. Would the link I'm this thread work for md4 or is it only for mb1? I not Rooted.

Well, I applied billard412's OneClick-Odin camera shutter toggle "no root" mod when I was on 4.1.1, updated to OTA 4.1.2, and my toggle was still there, updated to OTA from MA6 to MB1 and my toggle still stuck, just upgraded to MD4 and my toggle is still there.

I am completely stock with "no root" - everything on my phone is perfect - all my OTA's were done with OTA zip files from AC as I couldn't wait for the normal OTA push from Sprint. Hope this info helps.

I basically did the same as you except I went to mc3 before md4. Maybe something got messed up in the transition. Im assuming that it would be ok to use the link in this thread then? However I'm going to wait for a response from billard on what I should do just to be sure.

I think the MC3 was your problem because that was not the official DL but an early leak of MD4 - all my of my updates were of the official OTA's - with that said, that would be wise to wait for billard412's response.

Consider yourself lucky. I dont know how you kept the toggle up to md4. Been getting alot of pm's saying it didnt stick. And thank you mouseglider and anyone else answering ?'s regarding this.(its greatly appreciated)
With that said, anyone waiting on a md4 fix, I ADVISE YOU HANG IN THERE rather than using the mb1 link. If you are feeling ballsy and plan on trying anyway, Ill let u know whatll happen. It will work on md4 BUT upon boot you will have NO SIGNAL or connectivity to sprint. To remedy this, flash a modem in odin. That will fix it. I advise anyone waiting just chill. Im working on the new one but between all the projects i have open for the n2/s3, constant malfunctioning pc's and most recently, my car being impounded, i have alot of bs to deal with while trying to finish this.
Hang tight,

I think the main reason I have been so lucky, is that I was completely stock as it was "out of the box", where others even though they said they were stock, really weren't, what I mean is that they "might have rooted" and returned to stock, or they "might have rooted and installed a rom and or modem" and returned to stock. They might have deleted a few stock apps. In other words, they had done something previously and "may not have returned to pure stock properly". To me, stock is stock, nothing has been done. IMHO, if you rooted and deleted even one stock app (stock bloatware) and then unrooted, you are not stock!

Also as a side note, all my OTA's were "official leaked zips" from AC as I couldn't wait for the Sprint pushed OTA's. I did not install any leaked "non official OTAs". I also did not clear any cache, so in a sense, all my OTA's were dirty upgrades. I have 162 apps plus the stock apps on my Sprint 32gb S3. I have not deleted any stock apps either. In other words, it is a virgin, and thats why I think mine kept your toggle all the way thru to MD4.

So guys that are trying billard412's mod, are you "really stock"? Be honest! I think that would help out in troubleshooting, but that's just my opinion.

I got the MD4 OTA, but it won't install. I'm thinking it's checking the integrity of the files and it comes across the modded file and it doesn't pass. Is there anyway to get around that so I can update without rooting or wiping the phone? Or a way to revert that file back to stock (without rooting or wiping)?

EDIT: Is there a way to after trying the update, get a chance to retry without waiting a week? I've found that if you click update and it fails, the software update says its up to date, and after about 5 days it will finally realize that it's not up to date and gives you the option to update again.

You could try the method in post #1, here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-galaxy-s-iii/272331-your-way-update-md4.html I'm not sure if that will work in your situation or not, but worst case it will fail like the OTA.

Delete data from Google Services Framework (in the Application manager) is claimed by some to get the OTA to happen quicker. Some say clearing it multiple times will force the OTA more or less immediately. I've never tried it.

I found that post you linked meyerweb, however, I am getting the same error as I do with the OTA. Something in /tmp/sideload/package.zip, get status 7. Something with that file is wrong, I tried to take some pictures, but you know how that goes, so they are a bit hard to read.

I have done the Google Services Framework trick to get the OTA on three or four different occasions in the past and it has always worked for me after clearing it. I never had to go back in and clear it more than once, but I am "purely stock".

That's why I try not to root until I feel there will be no more OTA upgrades for my particular device, as I need my daily driver to be rock solid and don't need to have any weird quirks. Maybe when I get a spare S3 to play with or an S4, whenever a 32gb version comes out, I can play with rooting a little more, but until then, I don't have any pressing needs to root, but that just me.

install a custom recovery them download and flash my zip here. Youll have the latest most up to date system modem and firmware with stock everything no root

And fyi your update is failing at the modem. Not sure why but that's why it won't finish.
