4.1.2 On GS3 On Sprint

I had an OTA update waiting for me this morning. I am on version 4.1.2. To be honest, I don't remember what it was before. I notice a new app or two and also have the ability to split screen now.

It's the update that's been out for about a month, you may be one of the last ones to get it. Also, in case you didn't notice, you posted on a thread that's 5 pages long already discussing it. You'll also find many other threads about it.

And fyi your update is failing at the modem. Not sure why but that's why it won't finish.

Well I tried a factory reset and I still get the same error message. Might have to take it to Sprint and see if they can do anything. Kinda want the update because the dual screen mode is cool, tried it on the Note II when I was at the store.

A factory reset won't fix an error like that. Please don't ignore my previous post. It will fix your issue. Going to sprint is stupid and if you get someone at sprint as ignorant as you who replaces your device you're only driving up costs for the rest of us

Thanks for the link. I used it for a manual update and it worked just fine. Quick and easy.

The reason I didn't want to follow your instructions was because I'm trying to not void the warranty. I have no idea if this camera fix voided it already, but the less that looks out of the ordinary, the better; At least until the warranty period is up.

I did call sprint and they suggested to first try and update with the kies software. I did that and it was able to get the latest update applied. However, I notice that the lock screen bug that was suppose to be fixed is still there, not a huge issue for me. But I have also noticed that it seems to be a bit sluggish compared to before I updated. So I've thought about trying a factory reset, do you think that would at least fix the slow feeling?

Before doing factory reset to help being slow, go to recovery and wipe cache & dalvik first. That should help and save you the trouble of setting everything back up.

I doubt a factory reset would fix the sluggish feeling.if you read the post I linked to you would've seen that your warranty would still be intact. My zip restores everything like a kies restore but also restores normal status and resets the flash count and future otas can be applied on top. My camera hack uses a custom recovery I hate to break it to you. However it restores the stock recovery and resets your flash count so you'd never know. Trust me on this I'm pretty good in this dept.

Hi Billard412,
I want to get rid of shutter sound without rooting my phone. After reading the thread, this looks the way to go.
Quick ques: Would this work for Virgin Mobile version of s3 (as they use Sprint network) or do you have a separate version for that? Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm completely new to all of this but want to collect as much info as possible before trying any fixes.

Thank you very much!

I am just wondering whether I should still be waiting for an update to the shutter-sound-toggle fix. I have the MD4 build and Billard412 said he would work on it sometime ago...
Would appreciate an update...

I just upgraded to the Siii today...and it is 4.1.2
