Have you tried a reset a lot of tines after major updates you should do a reset in order to reestablish that homeostasis

First, make sure there are no third party applications causing this - I do not really trust the statistics given by the Battery application, so it may not really be the Android system using all that much. Second, give the device a couple of days to settle since you just updated. If it doesn't get any better in the next two days, then do a factory reset.

I dont know about third party apps.I have got MC4,Minecraft,Es file explorer and jetpack joyride installed.I dont think that any of those are causing this problem.Im gonna track down the next two days in usage. If its bot going to get any better im doing a factory reset. Thanks

Yeah, those shouldn't cause any problems as they don't actually even run in the background. Just let the battery settle and see what's up. I just installed the 4.2.2 OTA update and I am not getting a good battery life as well but as I said that's normal for the first couple of days. Good luck to you.

By the way,do you have high android system usage too?

A major update such as this can cause problems, and just like TarekElsakka said, it's pretty much normal and it should settle down. If not, the culprit is usually an app (system app or from the play store) that gets borked and is constantly running in the background causing havoc on your phone. The cure would be a factory reset. Either way, you should be good to go.

It used to be high at first but now it's down to normal levels (16 - 20%). Just give it some time.

I wonder why that is. If you think about it, the umpteen millions of users that have no clue as to who, what, when, where, or why would be freaking out calling their carriers asking how to fix it. You would think by now, Google would have figured out how to seamlessly transition updates for a no muss-no fuss experience. I know most don't experience this problem and Google can't cater to all the different variants of setups people use but there just has to be a better way.

I agree with you. Not only that, but also carriers and such have no idea why that happens and can do nothing to fix that problem, but at the same time I do not think they'll also give the correct advice which is to wait and let the device settle because that's what happens after updates (most of the time), but they might ask him to follow some troubleshooting steps that have absolutely nothing to do with that problem, or even ask him to return it to them and get an unnecessary replacement.

I must say, though, that it could be that carriers love to bloat their ROMs, not to mention that people with Google Edition or stock Android devices probably will not experience those problems because they don't have the many features Sense provides.

I guess that's something we'll have to live with. I just wish it was mentioned in the manual or something so people wouldn't freak out.

I agree. They should state that "Your device might experience abnormal behavior for the first couple days to let the phone transition to the new update.", but they don't. Carriers just go through a canned trouble shooting guide to try and help but actually have no clue as to what's going on. There's has been only a few "specialists" that I have encountered that new anything about anything. Sad really. And your right about them having it replaced if the canned response doesn't fix the problem. It just costs the manufacturer money and that price is passed on to us.

Don't even get me started on bloat! I'm in a good mood and talking about bloat is going to make my wife miserable! :)

So ive warched 30 minutes of youtube videos and my battery dropped 10 percent. The screen brightness is at half.Is this considered to be normal?

I would say that's normal battery drain.

Yeah I'd say that is normal as well. I checked the battery statistics after playing with the device for a little while yesterday and Android system was using 66% as well, so as I said, it's very normal post-update. Hopefully in a day or two things will get much better.

Just curious is it the official update or is it a rooted version?
