I'm glad to see so many willing victims err...participants when the update comes out. Verizon's last update on the S3 is what prompted me to move back to Sprint again, and the One. It flat ruined my phone, and having had it happen before it's like owning the same vehicle after a wreck...It's never the same after getting "fixed". If nobody has any problems, I'll update a month or so later.

Those of us former webOS users referred to this as "the coming months". Became quite the (painful) inside joke for us. :-)

This is one of the most irritating things about owning an Android. When Apple has an iOS update everybody gets it at the same time. There's no waiting from 3-12 months depending on the carrier.

I totally agree with you on this one. Coming from an iphone user I was always use to this way. Hopefully Android changes this up in the future.

This is one of the costs of using an open source OS. Outside of Google branded devices, consumers are at the whim of OEMs and carriers. Personally, it's something I don't mind having to stomach.

I do mind, aside from having the latest and greatest features in a timely manner, I want an OS with the security issues and bugs patched!

OMG 4.2.2 IS PUSHING TO MY PHONE NOW!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!

Wait....it was just a hairball. Nothing to see here.

And one of the only things going for iOS
;-) less devices, one manufacturer, less options.

I make only 1 suggestion.

When the ota does get pushed wait! Don't be among the first to download it just in case it's buggy.

It is a PITA but having Nova Launcher Prime keeps it fresh.

I only learned about Launchers 6+ months ago and it's probably one of the reasons why I upgrade.

That's the beauty of android, I just changed my One after spending HOURS last week customizing it.

LIke and agree. Nova's not my launcher of choice but I second the sentiment. Long time Adw launcher.ex fan and i'll be forever changing my phone setup's lol

I'm interested in getting a launcher should I start with nova 3d or nova prime or go or what do you think what's the big differences between all of them ?

I"m a bit old school but Adw.ex (not the free version) is fantastic I'd suggest just giving several a try and seeing what you like. I'm currently running with Adw.ex but i have an alternate setup on apex launcher too. An app called home switcher lets you switch with a couple taps. I cant stop changing things around no matter how much i like them lol I'm an addict

I'm not sure is has anything to do with it being open source. The issue is that android handset makers don't have the power to tell the carriers how the update process will work. Additionally, the handset makers insist on loading up the OS with both useful and useless additional software and OS mods.

I'm the same way man I was an addict with my jail broken iPhone but I haven't had the urge yet with this new phone

True, but you do wait 12 months for the next version of OS...so yeah timely updates are nice but the major ones still only come each fall normally, and certain things work for only certain models. So from that respect there are still frustrating issues, even in the iOS world. And there must be additional frustrations otherwise we all wouldn't be here. :)
