4.2 jellybean nexus7 runs jerky or haltingly

I recently updated to 4.2 jelly bean and now my nexus7 doesn't run smoothly any more. I have the 16gb model, but I'm not using more than 5gb of memory. I've power cycled the device as well, no joy. Is anyone else having this kind of trouble?

No more than the usual occasional Android lag and jitter.

It's Android, it's just never going to be as smooth as iOS or Windows Phone.
