I just picked up a new Moto G from Telus - I am just using it as a WIFI device. Since I don't have a Telus Sim card, how can I get the update for the OS?

Go to Settings>>>About Phone>>>>System Updates>>>Click and Check for Updates

Get yourself a Telus SIM card as you will only get the updates via your network provider which means a SIM card is needed. Can be a pay as you go SIM from Telus just to get started.
