$49 for Photon vs. $99 Epic Touch

They're both steals if you ask me, and spec wise id say the gs2 has the edge.. But personally I hate samsung ever since the epic. So many problems.. And don't get me started with the updates. The poor epic owners are STILL waiting on gb.

Depends on what you're looking for. For example if you want a world phone e4gt isn't going to do it. If you want super thin and big screen then maybe the Sammy is for you.

i work at sprint and have the photon, two other reps at my store have the photon and love it. 3 other reps have the gs2 and 2 of those 3 said they like the photon more. 1 of those 2 actually had the photon and gave it to his wife and regrets it every day lol. the speaker and signal are just too much to compare. he hates the speak and signal on his gs2.

@kgbcpthowdy If you have an STD and you sleep with someone then they sleep with 3 people, and 2 of those people sleep with 3 people each as well, then you have caused a huge chain reaction that will destroy humanity. Sorry, but I had to comment on that excruciatingly long explanation of how many of his coworkers have what phone.

The Photon is trash as well. Get an EVO 4G or 3D.

You mean the Evo 3d that the photon scored higher then in like every single review? Ok will get right on that.

Think of a spectrum, and on one side you have the business use and another you have the developer. Business care more about longevity and the compromise of having the best and greatest. Developers want the best and greatest while compromising on stability/reliability. Both are top of the line, and in their own right, great phones, but they target different markets. Me, I like the comfort that my phone will never turn off, die too quickly, work as a GPS when intended, etc... The EPIC 4G.... Sometimes would flake out. Great phone, I'm sure better than the midrange phones of its time....

I'd say get the Photon, even if it was the same price.

Your crazy for even recommending that. The photon is a much better phone than both of those options you gave. Also the epic touch can't even work as a phone right now. Look at my big screen but don't try to make a call or surf the web.

I have the Photon and was thinking of replacing it when the GS2 came out. I played around with the GS2 at the Samsung store and was thoroughly impressed. The thing is that I was coming from an Epic and Samsung did a really poor job of updating that phone. And in the end, the signal was getting really bad at my office. The battery life was getting worse because of the signal problems.

I don't think you can go wrong with either phone. Both are really fast and incredible. Now that Google bought out Motorola, you can count on many updates and the Photon has had quite a few so far. I still think Samsung will be slow with the updates on the GS2. Also, the Photon is a world phone And that's pretty important to me as I travel overseas quite a bit. The GS2 isn't, at least not on Sprint.

My take is that the GS2 has better ROM support, brighter screen and maybe a tad snappier. The Photon has better battery life, is a world phone, better accessories and probably much better signal reception. Can't go wrong with either phone, if you ask me.

And the photon gets much more updates! It has received 3 updates. That's an update every three weeks. They also added support for lapdocks onto the photon!! The sgs2 is a great phone, but over time because the lack of updates it loses its glitter. Photon now has google video chat. Who knows when the sgs2 will get it, and ics, who knows when the sgs2 will get it. Look at the epic, it is still waiting for gingerbread, and they are actually developing it!!

Now i love the Photon a lot and I think its the best touch screen phone,
but
In all fairness the update issues with the Epic are not Samsungs fault
If you look around you will see that 2 carriers just released there version of the Epic and surprise surprise they are both running Gingerbread.
If you are on Sprint and need a keyboard and Gingerbread , it is available.
You just have to install it yourself

Now if the question is Photon over Epic Touch
Thats a no brainer
Photon if you are a business user
