im not sure if this question has been answered. i cant find it but how wide is the 4G coverage. i live about 25 mins south of York and about 30 mins outside of baltimore i was wondering how close i need to be to the city to pick it up. any info would help thanks in advance...

you can check the coverage map on Sprint.com, but I know my dad lives 25 miles NE of Greensboro, NC, and they have 4g coverage up there, suprisingly enough.

This might be a stupid question about 4G, but I was wondering, is 4G supposed to be faster that using WIFI? Reason I ask is because I have read some reviews that 4G is going to drain battery faster so wondering at home should I use wifi or 4G, I do live in a 4G area just as an FYI. Any help would be appreciated??

WiMAX at 2.5Ghz has about a 3-6 mile radius. With heavy trees/tall buildings, much less.

depends on the wifi connection. The average 4G connection gets 3-6 mbps. At home I usually get 6mbps. So it's about the same for me. Usually Sprint will have 4G coverage in the inner big cities, not the metropolitan areas. And I remember reading that WiMax has a very long range per antenna. I don't remember exactly what the mileage is, but I'm sure you can look it up.

if you want to find out exactly where Sprint has 4G coverage, go to their coverage website and make sure you change the options to 'data and multimedia' and then on the tabs choose devices with 4G. It will show you the coverage in blue.

I have no clue, I just found that map a few weeks ago myself whilst I was still debating whether or not to get the Evo.

The don't have Baltimore on the maps yet. B was first major city to get WiMAX, deployed under the Sprint Xohm banner before Sprint merged with Clear. Clear will be adding B maps later.

Very broad question to give a specific answer. There are many options for connecting to broadband. At my work, we used to use DSL, which had a peak of 5Mbps. At home I have a 12Mb cable connection. Some people have fiber connections. In my area DSL is almost always less than the rated speed of WiMax. Whereas cable and fiber is almost always faster. The major exceptions are premium and budget tiers. In other words you cannot say which is faster as it varies based upon service, routers, caps and coverage. I always use 3G over wifi. I will always use 4G over wifi. I only use wifi when 3G is not available. The only other time I ever use wifi is if I am tethering my device to a laptop, too much of a power hog otherwise.
