4k 10 minute limit... is that still a thing?

So in other words, "Go educate yourself?" That's not how it works.

I posted all I needed in this thread for it to be deleted due to another user. I am not going through the trouble again. Again, you can find it. I am done here.

I'm just curious, with regards to the Snapdragon vs Exynos chips, if one is better and the other is inferior to the point they have to dump down the phone with the better chip so that they're both on equal grounds or one can do something that the other one can't, why even bother with inferior chips anyway? Why not just use the Exynos chips in all flagship phones and be done with it? Why even bother with inferior chips in flagship phones to begin with? Why not delegate the inferior chips to lower/more budget model phones only? Shouldn't an expensive flagship model phone all have the same chip performance and run on equal grounds to begin with? I feel so cheated to find out that I've been buying flagship model phones that have second rate chips over other phones of the same make and model~!

Also, if it's true that there's no time limit for 4k but the caveat is that you can only use internal storage, would it make sense just to fork up more money for the 512GB version rather than going the cheaper route and getting the 128GB version + a 512GB MicroSD card? So in other words, a SD card, even if you buy a top quality one, doesn't have the same performance as the built in storage? Kind of like a NVME .m2 drive will outperform an external drive regardless the quality of the external drive?

BTW, my S7 was overheating and shutting down just recording 1080p/30fps. I found out that just by disabling motion stabilization cured the overheating and shutting down problem. I'll probably disable it on my s10 just because I like to record long events like MX races and concerts so I'll probably try to set it up to be able to go the long-haul on recording so I'll probably be sticking to 1080p but I'll let it record at home at 4k to see how long it can go and how far I can push it. MX races are usually hot and indoor arena concerts are also usually very warm spaces.

A few things here. First of all, the Exynos is not necessarily better than the Snapdragon any more. In some ways, it's the other way around. I believe the Snapdragon is seeing better battery life. Secondly, Exynos can't do CDMA, so is not used in the US. Lastly, as far as internal storage, if you intend to do a lot of 4K 60fps recording, I guess you might want to go big on internal storage.

Correct. It's one of the reasons it's not suggested to format them as adoptable storage even if the phone has the ability (though, not the biggest reason). As of right now, there are no micro-SD cards that can write as fast as the phone's internal storage.

So that makes sense why it costs much more to get more built in internal space rather than just buying a separate micro sd card of the same space. Hmm... What to do? Well #1 I'm not sure if I'll do a lot of 4k recording, depends on how the phone can perform over a long duration of recording and if you lose a lot of features during 4k recording like being able to zoom. I would hate to pay for the 512GB version just to not even wind up doing much 4k recording and #2 , I normally pull all my photos and videos off my phone right away and onto my PC so I'm wondering even if I wind up doing a lot of 4k recording if the 128GB version would still be enough if I A) Kept my phones internal storage free and as open as possible and anything that I wanted to keep permanently on the phone like music and apps for example I could keep them on a add in SD card and B) a few hours of 4k recording didn't eat up the entire whatever is left of the 128GB version after formatting/OS/etc....

The main problem I have with buying the 512GB version which costs a lot more is that the storage isn't transferable to another device like a SD card and it's kind of throwing money away. I do tend to keep my phones for at least two years but I've held only my last phone for three this last time around so it's not like I normally get a phone every year but still....

Do you guys think the regular S10 with 512GB will be readily available tomorrow or will it be mainly just the 128Gb version in stores?

Exynos can do CDMA but Qualcomm charges out the a@# for licensing. Maybe if the antitrust trial goes against them we could start seeing the exynos here again.

I don't think it matters. As I said, Exynos doesn't seem to be the clear winner any more.
