5.9.905?

Just got the update. So far so good

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Android Central Forums

I previously did a Google to have a fix and then I spoke with Verizon and even the executive offices of Motorola but to now avail. At this point I don't think there is enough "upgrade" to justify factory reset and the reload all software and then adjust all of my custom settings. I may do the factory reset when 4.0 is released.

PS: Once you did the factory reset did the upgrade problem ever reoccur?

Cool...I am a field engineer for the broadband division of Motorla Mobility.
I know lots of people up at corporate....who'd you talk to?

I have not had any data connection since the update no 3g or 4g

This would be worth a try:
Power down
Remove Battery, Sim and data cards
Press power button to dissipate any residual charge
Install battery *without* Sim and data cards
Restart completely and power back down
Pull battery so you can reinstall Sim and data cards, reinstall Battery
Restart

Worked for some on the Moto forum.

For those having the issue of not getting any data at all after the update...I suggest flashing back to stock .902 and trying again. It's something with how the phone took the update....it's not the .905 update itself causing the issues...otherwise we all would be having it. Each phone is temperamental unto it's own.

Thanks Tom in Bristol for the advice. I have done all of that. For the some reason the update unchecked the data delivery setting. I went in to settings battery and data manager. tapped on data delivery and checked data enabled.

I did an update check for 905, and had it perform the update, but it failed for me. Only thing I have done is rooted/debloated. I shouldn't have to deroot to do this, right?

The update will only take if all the stock apps it expects to find are there. Being rooted won't be an issue, but you'll have to unfreeze all the bloat apps you froze for it to take.

I had some of the bloat apps frozen and it took the update. It also unrooted my phone but voodo took care of that.
However, using voice for anything is extremely slow. I am on wifi and it has always been very fast. Not anymore.

Ugh, so I got to unbloat. Okay, thanks.

(there isnt an addon out there for that is there? I've been using a file browser and just renaming them )

Looks like 5.9.905 has made its way out into the wild. I read somewhere else that it was found via cheesecake.

I updated last night and got it (employee accnt in az) and I have same as the thumbnail.

word is 'this week' for ICS from chandler ...

it will come when it comes, relax..take a breath and another. repeat as needed.

I have the update since Thursday, when I FXZ'd back to stock .902 and took the update.

I was using a custom ROM on .886 before, I can say that the problem with losing 3G after taking a voice call is gone. Now once the call is over the phone will automatically reconnect to 3G without requiring a reboot. 4G was never an issue.

I did have a few problems with a bad 4G connection last night but I really think that is the system not the phone. Overall the update seems pretty solid.

What I forgot was how much I hate the stock Motoblur experience. I actually like a couple of their widgets but there are just some functions missing that will have me going back to ROM's again very soon.

I got 5.9.905 and it killed my gmail and comcast email downloads(can't reach server), yahoo still works, browser still works, may be only WiFi but have not been able to prove that yet. Called Motorola support they said delete and re-install account, did that but can't get re-install to take (I finished setup in manual) the accounts I did not touch, updated OTA this morning but the re-installed accounts still don't work at all.????:(

I've only seen one other post like this but after applying this update my batter is getting trounced. I'm only getting 3 - 4 hours with very little usage of the phone. Yesterday it was down to 10% in about 3 hours. I've yet to see it last more than 4 after this update was installed. Nothing else has changed on the phone.

Looking to see how I can go back to an earlier version or maybe switch to a custom ROM. Couldn't be any worse :-\

I called Motorola and they said it could not be rolled back, I knew better so I came here looking to find out how. (update killed some email on my bionic) can you give instructions?

I take it back, I've had terrible data drops since the update. I was in a 3G area most of the weekend but since I got back on Monday I've lost 4G hundreds of times. It will go from the solid blue icon to white with no internet connection.

I talked to Verizon tech support and they suggested a factory reset. I did that and had the same issues. I tried pulling battery/SIM just now and we'll give that a go. Hopefully that fixes the problem or I'll be trying to roll back to .902

I've had the Same problems with .905 update, was not losing my data connection with 902 but now with 905 constantly have to wait around 20-25 seconds for my data connection to come back

I am having the same issue, been trying for a week, no luck. I pulled battery, sim, had VZW refresh, still no go. It is still saying that it is downloading, or it says download is temp. suspended and will resume when not in peak wifi. ??? Oh well, not worth getting bent out of shape over it. Still it's weird!

You might have seen my response on the other thread, but if you use RSDlite to go back to .902 and take the update again it may fix your problem. I did that last week and my data has been rock solid ever since. Even the problems I used to have with not picking up 3G after a call have been taken care of.

Be aware, if you follow the above advice your phone will be wiped out back to factory stock.
