5 days in to owning my Note 3 BATTERY SUCKING!!

Getting close to 12 hours on and with little over 50 percent left and did almost 3 hours screen time. Not bad but this is S4 battery for me on verizon. I think me working in a basement with 1 or 2 bars doesn't help. This weekend I will test since where I live has better service

I'm getting over a day of battery life with my 3. Try not leaving in on the charger all night. Once it's at 100% take it off. Also, let u battery drain out completely before you attach it to the charger.
Like some of the other replies on this thread, when at work try turning off the bluetooth and wifi features if u are not using them. If u have wifi at your job and don't really use your cell phone, u can put it on airplane mode and turn on the wifi feature only and that will conserve battery life drastically. You can always toggle airplane mode off periodically to check voice messages.

Good luck and i hope this is helpful for u!

Don't worry about leaving your phone on the charger all night. The battery will stop charging at 100%. One of the best ways to kill your lithium ion battery is to let it fully discharge. Read up.

My understanding of it is a device that takes a wireless signal and broadcasts (repeats) the same signal so that the other "side" of the repeater can get the signal. Its used so the range can be extended to those who can't get the signal without it.

I had this same problem starting at about day 10. Easy fix. Settings->Location services->access to location-> Off. This one change alone has made my battery life stellar.

You know if you tend to struggle between LTE and 4G there is a good app that is worth trying called LTE Setting Quick Launch , it does for most a nice job of turning off LTE drains when 4G is often strongest in the area.

I had same prob as OP. I reformatted my phone on day 5... And was careful with how many google services I selected...and now my battery life is amazing. Can't believe the difference. I noticed my wife's S4 draining fast because of google services...and I reformatted hers too. Bam. Problem solved.

Has any of you guys turn of your NFC and beam? That will kill your battery.

I've been doing this for the past 2 years without any problems. I still have excellent battery life on my LTE iPad 3 that i purchased since launch. Also, My note 2 still goes 24 hours plus with a full charge from 0-5 %. I guess I'm the exception!

NFC is a low power process and doesn't require that much battery.

not sure what your problem could be. from the day I turned on my S4, battery life has been above average to great. I'm a heavy user, and I still get a full day (0500-midnight) with about 35% to spare. I have turned off bluetooth and GPS, and a few other "gimmicky" things that I don't use, but in no way do I feel my phone is crippled. I have power saving mode on as well. I would assume the signal has a lot to do with how fast your battery drains, and I have a great signal on verizon. google maps can and will eat your battery, and I don't use Google now at all, as it was a drain, at least too much for my tastes. hopefully you'll get this figured out, because i have friends with the Note 2, and they can't burn through their battery, and they try. good luck to you.

I have not been happy with my note 3's battery at all. I have rooted it and not only shut just about everything but I also locked down all bloatware and stuff I am not using. When it is not being used it does OK as it should but with what I consider very light usage it will just make it to bed time. With moderate usage it will make it about 10 hours. With heavy usage and god forbid games it is like 5 or 6 hours or less. Last night I played the new call of duty game and it took the battery from around 50 to 13% in about an hour. Today I have used it lightly for some web surfing and texting with the screen brightness as low as it can go. I am at 67% at 8 hours, which isn't terrible but that super light usage. I don't know about everyone else but I bought this beast of a phone to use, not to just leave on standby. I am not sure if have a bad battery or what but I have not liked it. Does anyone know when Samsung might release a extended battery? I am iffy about the aftermarket ones.

Dont let your battery die. It should only go down to the low battery threshold. For more info on this check out Foxkat's explanation on droidforums.net

This is calibration and should be done every 30-40 charging cycle, not every time.

In every day use, both full charge and large depth of discharge should be avoided. Therefore, 30-80% is a better charging habit (charge to around 80%, start charging around 30%).

All these are described at batteryuniversity, who run lab experiments to determine battery related questions.

Something weird I noticed. On the battery report it looks like the Gps has been left on but I have had it shut off all day. The blue means on right? Could it be sticking? Gps and location access are turned off.

I was reading all these sites about the battery dropping fast. I got my Note 3 about three weeks ago and just this week it started dropping fast, I would charge at 100 % before I go to sleep, and be woken up to an alarm that my battery is dead at 4am! I used to be able to last thru the next day while even using it to use fb and games etc. i turned off all sorts of stuff to find out what it was..but I found my Whatsapp was taking a lot. the very next day, I went to bed with 100% and woke up with 100%! now 11am and still at 89% and been texting all am for work. Some apps take up a lot of battery. delete, or turn off one by one until you find the one that is causing it. I do not think the upgrade has anything to do with the problem as I fixed my real quick.
