.596 won't hold a signal on my wifi

Hard reset router, update firmware. Also, sometimes you have to play around with your router settings, like others have mentioned in order for your X to work correctly. I am one of the lucky ones who have never had a Wifi issue with my X.

ok. my originally dx wifi was fine even with gingerbread .573 leak. when the .596 ota came out w/root. i was in the middle of sbf'ing back to froyo and my battery died right in the the middle. VZW replaced that phone for me with a certified pre-owned one. it has the new .596 on it out the box. but now with wifi i cant be further than 5feet away from the router itself or else i'll drop connection. My original dx i could be 3-4 houses away and still connected. wtf? if i gotta be that close it defeats the purpose of it. im getting ready to take this one back too. and will do so until i get one that works like my original did or they give me a different model

also, something that might help that a lot of people overlook:

follow this path: menu>settings>wireless & networks>wi-fi settings>menu>advanced and change your wi-fi sleep policy from "when screen turns off" to "never". i use to get annoyed with my phone constantly dropping my wi-fi signal, but i havent had any issues since switching this setting

This fixed my issue! I was not even aware that this setting was there. Several calls to Verizon (we were close to swapping my phone out for another one) and this was never mentioned.
