I had the same thing happen to me.OK, I spoke too soon! Something funky happened, I hit download...screen said it was downloading although it didn't look like anything was coming down in the status bar - I just let it be for while. Checked again and the screen said it downloaded although still no indication in the status bar - but I hit the restart and install button on the screen. It went to my regular home screen and seems like nothing happened. I restarted just to be sure and then checked my version number and it's still on 5.1.1 Waaahhhh!
I had the same thing happen to me.
Sooo frustrating! I think I am going to sideload it when I get a little time this week, if it doesn't appear before.
EDIT: Got excited when I saw Android System Update Downloaded on my tablet just now - but it is only the December security update.

As long as it isn't rooted, unlocking the bootloader doesn't inhibit OTA updates.Yep... Same thing here... Just the December update... It doesn't make any sense!
My boot loader is unlocked, I don't know if that could be affecting its ability to see the update? (I tried to flash a factory image a long while back, but I couldn't keep my device and PC talking correctly... Unlocking the boot loader is as far as I got.)
Thinking of trying the Project Fi data only SIM card, assuming you don't have to have a project Fi phone active... Maybe that will make it see the update! Haha!
I know someone who has 2 WiFi only Nexus 7 2013s and one has Marshmallow the other doesn't and he didn't side-load or otherwise install it other than it was available to download OTA. Google? What's going on?

The update to Marshmallow FINALLY came for me last night! Was framed as the January update and the version number is the same now as those already on Marshmallow who got the smaller January update, but at 342.9 MBs it took me to 6.0.1. Thought it was never going to come....
