64gb USB drives on Nexus 7 2013

Up until now I have only used 16 gb USB 2.0 drives with an OTG cable on my recently acquired Nexus 7 2013 (32gb) tablet. I am looking to purchase several 64gb drives for film storage and for streaming films from.

Has anyone any experience with this size?

I do realise that USB 3.0 is a later standard and drives are backwards compatible with USB 2.0. Are the flash modules in the later USB 3.0 drives any faster than the older USB 2.0 ones?

Anyone know?
