6GB of RAM vs 8GB of RAM

Agreed, but would also suggest most would be touting those same speed tests, if in the N9's favor ;)

Definitely not me if that is what you are trying to say. I have zero interest in a Note 9 lol.

I really wish someone did some speed comparisons between the two. Nothing out there yet that I have found though.

Why would extra ram be a battery drain?

Because the RAM draws current even if it's not being utilized. The thing is we are not really talking about a lot of draw and reality is it will be offset by the juice used by app swapping in phones with less RAM.
Bottom line is that it's a non event.

I've maxed at 2 1/2 sometimes 3gb of ram used when phones had 4gb and never came near 6gb. IMHO 8 is overkill. Maybe it will help with things like 4k video. IDK. Again, just MHO

It's sad and this how I'm obsessed with phones. I know the 6GB is more than enough but It's went ahead and preordered the 8GB.
Same here. Glad I did though. Some of the larger games will benefit from this. Also helps with multi tasking.

It'll be interesting to see what's used for system and apps and reserved to what left as available.

Mind you someone once said unused Ram is wasted Ram.

Sorta... Laptops, with the Exception of Linux and Chromebooks, use RAM very differently than Android. On those devices unused RAM is a good thing.
Seems that the test is rigged in apples favor by not testing with Vulcan on both devices.

If it needs 8GB of RAM to operate smoothly the software needs to be tweaked. The A11 Bionic with 3GB of RAM still smokes the Note 9. The answer isn't more RAM, it's better code.

Exactly!! Android and Samsung’s software is the problem and throwing more RAM at it isn’t going to fix this issue

Coming from using iPhones for years I'm happy because the iPhones open page internet tabs almost always refreshed losing any work I'd started.

This hasn't been the case with the Samsung Phones I've used so for my own personal user habits it's working well.

If you are planning to keep the phone for a while, you should opt for the 8GB version. Thats what that model is catered to, people who are gonna rock it for at least a year and a half or so.

This is the precise reason I preordered the 8 GB version. After having my S5 for 4 years and lagging on and off in the last couple of years, I decided to give myself a chance of future proofing my device.

I can see 6 GB beginning common soon and eventually 8 GB RAM. I don't need anywhere near 512 GB storage, but that 8 GB RAM is always useful to ensure smooth running performance for years to come.

If you use Dex for PC stuff, there might be a benefit. Other than that, seems not much.
