6p failed the out of box update, stuck on outdated build.

My phone is on MDA89D and there's never been an update for my 6P.

I'm still on October 1 security update. Hope the update comes soon.

My 32GB 6P has failed this update 3 times this week now, I am stuck on MDA89D. It automatically detects the update, and when it reboots to install after about 3 seconds I get the Dead Android Error screen. When it boots, I get the 'New OS' message, which leads to the 'System Corrupt' message, after which it finally boots. I have not tweaked anything from the factory... no rooting or anything.

I have received the System Corrupt message on boot since I unboxed the device, so I assume that is related to its factory unlock status. But if this update failure indicates something further is wrong, I want to get it swapped ASAP.

I would definitely get it replaced. Mine doesn't do that.

Do a factory reset.

I'm still on the October build as well and I've had the phone for 1.5 weeks. Wondering if that is something to worry about.

Only thing I can think of is maybe an issue with my SIM card. When I got the phone, I called Verizon and was told I needed to get a new SIM card from my Droid Maxx (Verizon). I went into the store and the rep told me I could use the old SIM. So anyways, he set the phone up and I've been using it since then.

Any ideas if I should get a new SIM?

I wouldn't worry. It is a staged rollout.

November Security Update....When?

And idea when we'll get the Google Security Update that Google pushed out a few days ago. If we're on an 'uncertified' network will we get it?

It rolls out in stages. I got mine last night.

November Security Patch

Has anybody gotten the Nov Security Patch yet? I don't have it. BTW, I don't have the 6.0 update for my Nexus 7 2013 yet either. That was out over a month ago. So much for fast Nexus updates...

Re: November Security Patch

I haven't. I have a Verizon SIM in mine if it matters.

I did. Remember fast doesn't mean everyone in the world instantly gets it -- they still do it in staged rollouts. It still is faster than other phones. A week or so wait versus 8, 10, 12, Infinite months?

Re: November Security Patch

I havent gotten it either yet. It is strange however given that Marshmallow has less than 1% android market share. They should ideally look to get updates out within a few days of release to all compatible devices.

Re: November Security Patch

I got mine today. It said in the install it was Nov security patches. now i'm on MBD80L, or whatever the build number is

Might need to check under phone status and see if the update is available. I must have missed the notice and had to manually start it. It was dated Nov 1.

I still haven't pulled the update, and when I check it says it's up to date. I know it's a staged roll out but it shouldn't take half the month to get a monthly security patch pushed out to everyone. Almost defeats the purpose. Like you're just not secure half the time lol, only the second half of every month.

Any issue using third party apps for WiFi tethering after the security patch? I just got mine just received my phones today and love it.
