6P Review and Annoyance

Are you sure you don't have any burn in. I have met people that don't think they do and then I show it to them. I seem to notice burn in easily on a screen.

Yes, I actually looked pretty close after reading about it. Again, I keep my brightness down, so maybe that is why I don't have

Does anyone else think that it's weird that none of the "hands on" videos even mention the quality of the front facing speakers? I mean they might really suck. Nobody is talking about them.

The potential burning on this screen is really putting me off which is a real shame as I really fancy buying this phone or the Moto X Style

geez! people go out of their way to find reasons not to buy something. any product we buy, especially electronics, has the potential for something to go wrong. I can kinda understand some hesitancy with the 810, maybe wanting to wait on a few reviews, but the display? lol

like brown79 I had an S4 until a few weeks ago, no burn in .... usually kept the screen around 30-50% except when outdoors

The burn in on a screen gripe is just about as useful as saying a phone is awful because the battery decreases over a year as well. Amoled screens look great and provide very nice colors. Yes there are trade offs, but that's how all things are in electronics. If it was VERY noticeable that would be one thing but after a year with an S3, Note 3, and Note 4, I can tell you that I haven't seen any noticeable difference in screen quality during that time.

Except it's not the same gripe at all. Just because your amoled cell phone doesn't have any noticeable burn in doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I for one use my phone a bit for GPS navigation. That is a lot of static images on the screen for a decent amount of time. Eventually, if used like that enough, those static images WILL burn in to the screen and a silhouette will be visible on brighter backgrounds.

Take a look at the game ingress. People who religiously play that game have constant gripes about amoled screens because the HUD of ingress will burn into their screen. This is not the same argument as a worn battery because it directly affects the quality of what you interact with 100 percent of the time you use your phone for anything other than calls or music. The screen.

The fact that the screen is amoled hasn't stopped me from preordering however because I'm willing to use nexus protect to have the screen replaced if this happens.

Ive been waiting impatiently for someone to at least mention the quality. This is the main reason I've watched every review lol.

What you said lol

I had ingress burn in on me on another phone. I have not had that issue with my Nexus 5 which I have had since it came out.

Does the Nexus protect cover burn in? If it does you can only get it replaced twice correct? I haven't read all the fine print yet.

Nexus protect covers accidental damage, I would imagine if you filed a claim for screen burn in it would at the very least be covered under accidental and subject to the deductible.

With all due respect I use my GPS for 2 hours a day minimum. Have had the Galaxy S6 since launch and have had no burn in issues. Had the Galaxy Note 4 for 1 year same usage and no burn in issues. Galaxy S4 no burn in issues, the list can go on and on.Really don't think anyone should be worried about burn in.

But yet my mom's note 4 does have burn in (albeit slight) and she does not use the phone nearly as much as I use mine, at least I don't think she does.

If your GPS usage numbers are fact then i feel slightly better about it but it doesn't change the fact that oled screens deteriorate over time and in some cases its noticeable in the form of burn in. In either case I'm going to enjoy the phone and if it happens to me it'll be frustrating but at least I can file a claim and get it replaced if it does.

What I have found is not everyone notices Burn in. I have had to point it out to people and then once I showed them they were annoyed that it was there.

Though, I hope you do not have burn in but I have had issues with AMOLED in the past. Another thing I do not understand is why Samsung lets stores keep playing the same demo over and over again. All the demo devices have really bad burn in. That to me is a turn off and makes me not want the phone.

If people don't notice it what difference does it make? It's like people who say a device is bad because it benchmarks poorly, but in real world use it's just as fast. My mother and I each had Nexus Ss for 2+ years and neither of them had issues. Can it happen that you get bad burn-in? Of course, but I agree with titaniumSS: I'm not going to disqualify a device for an issue it might have a couple years down the road. If I did I'd never buy another device again.

I agree. It's not that im saying the phone is going to suck because AMOLED is the devil. I'm just saying i (personally) really really dont prefer AMOLED screens, and if there was one thing I could change about this phone, that would be it. the SD810 overheating problems dont have me worried in the slightest. Internal batteries are a nuisance if the battery goes bad but are pretty much the norm now and that doesnt really happen often (unless you have an iphone 5 and your name is Poseign). I just happen to notice burn in a little more than the general consumer because I am OCD about my screens.

So if there is burn in, as there is on my Galaxy S4, but you can only really see it if viewing an all blue screen(like a dead pixel detector), then who cares? I forgot it was there a year and a half ago, after I stopped inspecting the phone for damage. It's the top bar being a little lighter.

Not everyone will be annoyed or care about burn in. Personally I notice burn in as soon as it happens. I can also notice a dead pixel right away.

I think it's hard to decipher anything about speakers in a crowded hands on environment like that.

Yeah google has impeccable warranty on nexus devices especially If you buy it from them.

I truly use GPS 2 hours a day 6 days a week
