7 days and this EVO LTE is going back!

For those of you that have rooted, are there any Roms out yet that fix the multitasking issue?

I looked on xda researching the roms for any multi-tasking fixes. The only one I saw that mentioned it was viperROM. They admit that they didn't completely address it. All they have done is lower the memory kill level. Meaning that an app stays open longer before it's killed.

I am waiting for a Rom worth rooting for. Yeah, I know all I've claimed how rooting is apart of android phones. Waiting on a ota to see if it fixes anything before I root. Actually, I like stock ics and sense. Has its issues, but it is a major upgrade on the og EVO.

I'm not talking randomly stops at some point during the transfer and you might have to try a few times. It stops the moment you go do something else, no matter what. My EVO 3d could do it, and the only thing that POS should be better than a flagship device is the 3d.

Well I can say that I just randomly picked one of mine and Pauls red synergy themes and hit export saved to sd and as soon as it started I hit the home key before even 1% complete. Came back to tapatalk read through the rest of this thread and it told me it finished exporting it. 42mb file. Honestly it actually did it lol. Never worked on my Samsung devices.

Are you kidding me ... Even if what you say is true ... Your saying that the 5+ native apps will work right with "mult-tasking" , but the other 500,000+ apps will not work and thats cool with you ... That's Ridiculous ! It's either BROKE or ... No ... It's BROKE ... Period!

I would like to see a good list of 10 - 20 apps that are ICS optimized to test the theory of whether it's ICS or HTC that reloads/refreshes the apps once you return to them.
You can't blame HTC for the lack of support for ICS from the Dev community. In Facebook I can start a post, and come back to it without starting over, I don't lose my spot on speedtest.com, I can pick up where I left off in YouTube, same thing with the native video app, Fruit Ninja, solitaire, Gosms, I don't lose any websites I'm on either on Chrome, or Dolphins HD. Mail, Evernotes (I don't lose what I've started typing, Daily Bible, Play Store completes download when multitasking, Tapatalk, etc. Like I said before sorry to hear your having problems! But I just don't share the bad rap of this phone. It's been all positive, no sense reboots, etc. Two friends of mine also have nothing but good things to say, without a single complaint. That is just my reality!

Well I officially pre ordered the s3 today. I also returned my broken EVO since I broke mine last week as I mentioned in a few threads and received a brand spankin New one. Actually still doing the transaction. Will finish as I have to factory reset the phone.

I just realized that going back and forth through apps using only the home button then switching back using whichever shortcut to the app I want to keeps my data. Once I start using the multitasking, switching through apps clears out the stale data.

I think you're accepting the "placeholding" that's going on as multi-tasking.

As it stands now, the OS is taking a snapshot of most apps when you switch apps and then reloads that snapshot information when you switch back. True multi-tasking means that multiple apps continue to function when they're not the focus app on screen.

The placeholding can be transparent for apps that are actually idle when you switch away from them, although it should be obvious that the screen reloads when you switch to a different app. So Evernote, for example, it will just reload and put the text back as if it didn't close.

The easiest way to see this is to load up YouTube or Chrome and load a certain page. Then turn on airplane mode and switch to some different apps. When you go back to Chrome or Youtube, you won't get anything because there is no connection to re-download the page you were on.

In my case, I tried using Google Play and the Camera. Both are stock apps. Could not multitask correctly between them. His theory is not valid.

U ppl r so crazy if u think u r going to get a perfect device gs3 have its problems too read the freakin reviews so naive get a grip r better yet join a forum and complain abut that phone too

After reading many posts in the last 2 days about the 3g connection issues and multitasking, I decided tonight to give it a try. I have owned the evo 4g since launch 2 years ago, been pretty happy with it overall.

Before switching to the LTE, I tried a few things at the store. I loaded speedtest on the phone store, and mine. results were low as expected on Sprint, but close with a slight advantage to the evo 4g. Speed around 300. I tried all kinds of servers on both phones and results were consistent. Speed were fairly bad, but at least not too differnet than my current phone.
As for multitasking, I tried a few things. I loaded Angry bird, started a level, shot a bird, and switch to home and another app. Coming back to the game did bring me back where I was every time.I also started a download through Google play. Once, the dowload was still "searching" for the file, switching to another app killed the process. When going back to the store, I had to start over. Another time, I actually let the download start, and switching between apps never killed the process.
One thing that is different with my Evo 4g was the browser. Every time, I switched to another app and came back to the page, it would reload the page. I did not like that, and it is not doing this on my Evo 4g.
I still decided to buy the phone. I am barely starting to put evrything in order, but so far so good. The main thing I have been able to test is 3g speed. They are much much better right now on my LTE for some reason. I average 800 now. So more than twice the speed I had on the store Evo LTE or my old evo 4g. I can't complaint, good surprise.
I also noticed that my wifi connection through home wifi is better, it went from 4500 to almost 8000.
I am going to test messaging now, since I have heard of issues with handcent.

Of course, i am not saying these issues do not exist. But if hardware are not acting the same way, I think for now I have been lucky.

Ha Ha Ha Ha ... Your funny ... We ONLY want what Sprint, HTC, Google etc PROMISED us ... We purchase these devices on the belief that they will indeed perform as they tout: To describe or advertise boastfully; publicize or promote; praise extravagantly !!! ... Is that really asking to much from a company.

I hate to say it but I'm contemplating the same...from the broken multi tasking, to the wifi issues...can't even have Bluetooth connected and wifi on without bt disconnecting and reconnecting...I keep getting a set my local time prompt...sense reloading, this is a dam nightmare and HTC needs to fix these issues asap...also if I'm listening to music and song ends and I use voice dialer from bt...music from lock screen disappears...to many software issues..I've gone from being happy to have this phone to depressed...I'd gladly reconnect my og evo....and yes I'm rooted but I'd prefer not to be as I only did it to use titanium backup....HTC needs to listen and get something done asap

I just had a warning about my local time... Everything is not pink :)
Though, I must say my og evo has been losing local time for months ramdomly. It just happened some days. I'd check the phone and my time was of by a few hours. I remember I woke up an hour early one morning because the phone had changed time during the night.

Go Launcher EX leaves a stupid menu "---" at the bottom below the tray all the time (I can't get rid of it, if you know a secret, please share).

With that happening I feel the loss of screen real estate is too much.

Very thankful for all of your posts. I'm currently using my lauch day EVO3D having upgraded from a launch day EVO4G and launch day Pre before that. Sounds like I made the right decision not to jump on the EVO4GLTE on launch day and may not be upgrading this summer at all. Unbelievable how HTC botched this integration with ICS so badly. Once Sprint starts reporting the number of returns they are receiving to HTC you'll have HTC's attention. Sprint won't like it and they'll put heat on HTC to reverse the trend due to the cost Sprint is incurring to handle them. Money talks, keep those returns flowing!

You obviously have not used the Evo4GLTE as you would clearly learn if you used it, how that it's the most innovated android phone available at the moment. Judging by a few people, some who not accustomed to ICS and some who are complaining because they are unsure of its capabilities or settings. This is not a legitimate reason to negatively attack a great phone.

My local best buy had 5 of their first 6 Evo4glte's returned or exchanged. I am the only one who didn't have a manufacturing defect(my wife did), and if the timing lines up the 6th one goes back also.

BTW I have used ICS quite a bit on my touchpad which has a "hacked" version of android on a piece of hardware that wasn't designed for Android. I have 0 multitasking issues with the Touchpad.

Just because you use your phone differently than others and the phone works for your use, doesn't mean people aren't having problems. I know this phones capabilities and what it "should" do. But HTC gimped an important feature of Android and admitted they meant to do it.

Our local best buy had sold over 50 without any returns. Maybe yours got a bad batch... If you can't change the things around you, then change the way you think about them!"...just saying.

Ok, now this is a bigger deal for me. It looks like pda net is not available for download anymore. It says my carrier does not allow its installation.
