I Just got a notification to upgrade to the 8.1 developer preview. This isn't normally a weird thing except that I didn't enroll in the beta this time around (did for the 8.0 preview though). It's been my experience with previous releases that, when in the beta, once RTM software ships the beta program closes down until the next developer preview is released, at which time you have to manually re-enroll your device. Has anyone else received the update without enrolling and/or has Google changed the way the program works? This isn't really a huge deal to me, I'm just curious.

You don't get unenrolled after the official update rolls out....you have to manually unenroll.

Turns out you're right, I'm still enrolled. I could've sworn though that i had to re-enroll my device once 8.0 preview started even though i never unenrolled from 7.0 (or whatever the preview version was before 8.0). Anyway, thanks for the reply!

I've never enrolled and just got the notification. But I did buy the phone used. Is it tied to the IMEI?

It is. Your situation is actually a good reason for a device to be automatically unenrolled after a preview completes I would think.

Battery life is phenomenal for me, 6+ hours of screen on time i could easily get more with jist videos, 8.1 seems better, Google's getting better at designing os'es but at times some of there redesigns are wierd but for the most part Google is good at making an appealing looking os
