Has anyone here gone out and purchased or already have an 802.11AC router? Are the speeds noticeably better from just a normal 802.11N (say an Apple Airport Extreme) wireless router? I've been pretty curious about this.

Is this questions specific to the HTC one? If so, how so? Curious. Is AC faster than N?

I just bought a Netgear R6200. Not as fast as I thought, but great range. I get wifi speeds of up to 56 Mbps. Other routers may get better results, but I'm not certain.

Yes it is. The One is capable of using 802.11ac and I'm wondering if the difference in wifi speed is noticeably better than using a dual-band router that is only capable of 802.11n.

You mean the speed of Internet over WIFi connection? No, it won't be - you'll still be limited by your Internet package's speed. And for that, even 802.11n router is good enough - I have Asus RT-N66U, which is a 802.11n router BUT with an awesome range and signal strength which allows me to max out my Internet package's speed in any part of my house with any device.

Technically it should save battery as the phone will require less duty cycles to transmit same data.

Hi guys!

Please keep in mind that the advent of the 802.11ac era is to significantly reduce power consumption and to optimize the transmission between the mobile device and the router.
My opinion is that you won't see significant speed differences on a mobile with 802.11ac but what you will most certainly see is an extended battery life :D

I'm seeing faster speeds with my D-Link 802.11n router and Netgear extender...
