8GB vs 6GB- Anyone notice a difference

You won't in 2018 - there are no apps that use enough RAM to make a difference, even running 3 apps at once (like a banking app, a password app and Google Authentication). Some time in the future, when we have apps that use 2GB or more, we might start noticing it. But adding more ram, if it's not needed, doesn't change anything except the amount of battery being used. And 6GB isn't needed yet.

IMO I don't think it will make much of a difference. Like @Rukbat said "there are no apps that use enough RAM to make a difference". Even with apps open in the background and playing games, I have never tapped into 4gb ram. Most was 3 and some change.

I appreciate the responses. So, potentially, someone would notice a reduction in battery life?

My Verizon 512 GB note 9 is using 4.3 out of 8 GB with 56 apps or services open, including 11 apps I knowingly opened and never closed and, apparently, a bunch of services that like to run in the background. 606 MB is system reserved.

Good grief, that is impressive! Just over half RAM usage with 56 apps open. That is why I preordered the same.

Might be tough to find someone that has both a 6gb and 8gb... let alone set up exactly the same in order to compare speeds and what not...

I don't think it'll be too long before a YouTube reviewer does a comparison.

Some got 128gb units from Samsung to review and then go onto buy a retail unit so that could be a 512gb unit.

I do! I find the note 9 overall faster than my note 8, and I never thought my note 8 was slow, lol.

So is your Note 9 a 6gb of Ram version or 8Gb of Ram version ?

The point of the thread is people deciding if it's worth paying extra to get the 512Gb with 8Gb of Ram instead of the 128Gb with 6Gb of Ram.

512gb, 8gb ram :) exynos, Australia

(and, because I pre ordered, I got the 512gb for the same price as the 128gb. And, in fact, the 512gb was therefore the same price as the note 8, 64gb, when it first came on the market :p)

Yes it was well discussed as to what deals you Aussies where getting from Samsung;)

Well done for you.

No such luck in the UK.

We got Trade In your old phone deals only.

I got £300 for my Samsung Galaxy s8 phone which took a big chunk off the purchase price of my Note 9 512Gb phone.

Respectfully think placebo effect is the only apparent difference. I've yet to see one conclusive test objectively showing a real difference.

The storage was my main motive. Any improvement with 2 more GB would be an unexpected bonus.

He's talking about you comparing a note 9 vs a note 8. He wants to know what the speed difference between a note 9 with 8gb vs a 6gb. The processor difference between the 8 and 9 won't show the difference between the RAM.

Exactly... the Note 8 vs 9 will have a greater effect than 6 vs 8 GB.
