The only "benefit" I could see would be the mobile hotspot.

If you have a rooted GNex, the mobile hotspot is free.

If you are rooted and have a ROM on any Verizon smart phone you don't have to pay for the hotspot. But it isn't free, its stolen. Nothing to brag about and makes it no different than what Verizon is doing to us.
I do have a couple rooted phones and tablets but I pay for 2 hotspots. I don't like it and its my choice. I just don't think I would say its free or brag about it unless it was given to you.
