I just registered so I could get into this conversation. I've owned an HTC EVO 4G since June 2010. I still have it but will be cancelling the plan with Sprint soon.
BECAUSE, last month I jumped on the HTC Rezound for a penny sale at Amazon. I didn't mind switching from Sprint to Verizon as Verizon now has a much larger and more future proof network. The whole WiMax to LTE fiasco with Sprint irks me to be honest.
Anyway, I bought the Rezound because 1) it was a penny, 2) I was tired of waiting on the Nexus, 3) I figured the wait was due to development issues with ICS and 4) the Rezound was a penny =)
So now the Nexus is out and I've read the reviews and how great it is, and I have to say, when I read under the first impressions to what the user experience will be like 6 months from now, I think the Rezound is the better phone for me. This won't be a complete list but I'll bullet a few things:
1) At first a gimmick, I really like the iBeats and software for casual listening as I travel
2) The camera is much better
3) The hardware (CPU, GPU, Screen) are better IMHO
4) I like the feel of the Rezound
5) MASS Storage is possible
6) I moved my Class 10 SDMHC 32GB memory card from my old phone to my new (48GB total)
7) The extended battery is about 500 mAh larger
8) My EVO 4G was very well supported by HTC and by third party app providers like Netflix.
9) Highest DPI screen in a phone, ever...
Of the above it's the expandable memory that is the biggest clincher for me. I'll also add that the Rezound feels like someone took my HTC EVO 4G and applied multiple iterations of improvements. So the Rezound feels like its design benefits from a great deal of end user feedback.
As far as cons, I'd rather be able to opt in/out of HTC Sense, but I can live with Sense, and have, so I'm not too worried about it. I also don't have to worry about apps that are currently broken now because they haven't been updated to be compatible with ICS.
Now, I am an end user and I cannot root my phone (Corporate policy won't let me install our enterprise email software if phone is rooted.) I use my phone, in this order, for Business email, Navigation, Talking, Texting, Games, Music, and every now and then watch video.
I really do wish there were some healthier current reviews that compare the Rezound to the Verizon Nexus. It seems all reviewers write about a phone when it's first release, then it's old news and forgotten. That's too bad.
