A few reasons why I keep coming back to the Mate 9

wow thats crazy, the most I ever got was about 6 hours of SoT with my usage.

Yes. Next day shipping on Amazon Prime and this time it was free. It did arrive yesterday, but with one issue. I just missed the delivery and they sent it back to the distribution center until I answered where I wanted it left. The phone did arrive later that evening, but I had just enough time to set it up.

First impressions though are this is an awesome phone! I immediately appreciated the fit and finish and the upscale feel of the phone. Very solid and well put together. Also, for a 5.9" inch screen I was shocked with how easy it was to handle. My Moto XPE has a smaller 5.7" inch screen but the Mate 9 was much easier to handle one handed and had a slightly smaller footprint in comparison.

I downloaded the Google Launcher and set it as my default launcher and as of now, it feels like a typical Android phone. So far very impressed - great screen (watched Amazon Prime and it was very bright), super fast fingerprint scanner, nice speakers and super snappy/responsive doing routine searches.

A couple of issues I need to work out though - it doesn't read my microsd card and says it needs to reformat it, which will delete everything on it. Definitely don't want to do that, so hopefully I can figure it out and secondly - its saying I don't have a mobile data plan, but its reading my sim (name and number). Looking into registering it on AT&T when I get home today. Hopefully that does it.

Overall, great hardware and still need to figure out the software/camera. Very impressed though!

If you have a computer then you can copy the contents to a computer first, then let the phone format the sd card, and copy the contents back to the sd card

Wow that's a huge difference. Hopefully I will be able to get like Gayle got, if I ever get one.

I got 7sot today with usb dac eating battery too, music playing at background for 2 3 hours, some ppsspp gaming and YouTube.

Keep in mind SOT alone is NOT indication of battery life, there are many things that can happen in the background

Speaking of, what's to be expected usage of Phone idle and Cell standby? For example, right now my battery is at 41%, 2hr 15 min SOT, 18% Phone idle and 16% cell standby. Phone has been on same charge for 1day 17hours.

When you say 5 hours/ 2 days, are you saying 5 hours total over 2 days,or 5 hours on average over 2 days?

I'm not sure I understand what you are getting at. Generally, I charge the phone every other day. On one occasion I had 5 hours screen time, but every other time my screen time is closer to 3 hours. Does that answer your question?

Yes that is a good point. It comes down to what you are doing. And how you are doing it.

Also brightness could play a significant roll in battery life.

Yes that makes sense. I just wanted to make sure that you were getting 5 hours total SOT in two days, not 5 hours SOT a day.

True, i hate Auto brightness so i always adjust it myself, unless i'm outdoors.

Mate 9 is really an underrated phone.

I'm so glad the auto-brightness works for me on the Mate 9.
That honor 8 I had drove me nuts with it's nonfunctioning auto brightness.
So glad I was able to sell it off on Swappa.

It's funny how even something as basic as auto brightness can be messed up these days. Glad to hear that it works well on the mate 9!
