Having a slight delemma.. purchased a pair of headphones that are bluetooth for use with the samsung s7 edge.. but at my gym (planet fitness), the only way to hear the audio from the tvs as far as i know is to have an audio jack or wired headphone set..

Is there an app that would allow a 1/8 cable to plug from the phone headphone jack to their port on the machines then transmit this back in stereo via bluetooth?

I'm already aware i could spend $28 on another device to plug into their port and transmit it back, but that seems unwieldy to have to have yet another (though small) device on hand.

The alternative is a bluetooth headset that has a line in jack, but i'm not seeing any ear bud style or even wrap around bluetooth headphones that offer that.

Thanks in advance

I doubt it. The cable would have to somehow transmit the audio output from the exercise machine's audio jack to the microphone input in the phone's headphone jack. Then you'd need an app that would transmit that mic input real time. The limiting factor might be the cable -- from my searches so far, I don't believe such a cable exists. Here's one example of a workaround, but it also sounds clunky, with low quality audio: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...-phones/add-an-audio-input-to-android-1189160

Although it is another device to carry around, Bluetooth transmitters are pretty small, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-B...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU5598802

Thanks, yeah thats the transmitter i had found.

The easiest solution would be headphone ear buds that contained an audio line cable jack.. but only big headsets seem to have that.

Look at audio plug adapters - you can usually convert the plug on the earbuds to the plug or jack the audio is coming from - for any plug or jack. But not for Bluetooth - you'd need that TaoTronics adapter or something like it. If you use a TRRS adapter and some software (you'd have to search for something that feeds the mic input to Bluetooth output), I'd suggest an attenuator between the plug and the phone - something switchable, but on the order of 10db-40db in 5db steps or so.
