AC Asks: What's your favorite music player

PANDORA! Is this what a streaming music player is like? Holy popcorn Batman!!!! A huge thank you to everyone who answered this post! I've never used anything like this and I'm giggling like a little kid while playing an old Michael Jackson song. I LOVE MY NEW ERIS! I LOVE THIS FORUM!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Please keep doing these Q&A threads. It's been more helpful than anything I've found thus far (just got my Eris yesterday).

I don't even want the invisithingy! I just had to say thank you!

Honestly? I'm a no-frills kind of guy. I'm fine with the default music player.

I'm a huge fan of Slacker for my MP3 player, and Pandora is great as well, but if I've got local music? I just play it in the built-in Android player.

Been using the stock player, Slacker (when I can deal with the bass bug) and just started using AOR for shoutcast streaming.

I use the stock player for my large collection, but wish it was more functional with some things. I like slacker over pandora for someone else's music though

Pandora, definitely. I've decided that I like the Meridian player better than the stock player. It has a few extra features that the stock player doesn't have including viewing and playing files directly from a folder. The interface is a little prettier, too.

Been trying out a lot of the suggestions listed here. I think I'm loving Bplayer- All of the others just seem to lack. I did like rockon's new player (cubed) but still wasn't perfect. As much as I love my droid, Iphone really nailed the music player (of course)

Stock player + Last.FM here - I've been scrobbling my desktop tunes for many years now, so it's great to finally have a phone (Moto Droid) that can do the same!

I still use the stock player on my Droid. I've been working on updating all my tags on my MP3 collection through my desktop, and the stock player works well on reading all ID3 tags and embedded album art.

I've tried a few (sorry can't remember the names), but am resorting to the stock player for now.

Slacker for radio.

Although, I'd love an integrated media player.

Double twist is a start for integrating my media.

Mixzing for local music and videos, DroidLive for streaming.

Now that someone's FINALLY managed to get an EQ into their media player, I'm hoping that feature makes its way to Mixzing at least :)

what's the player that has an EQ!?!?!!!

Shoutcast - Droidlive
Mp3 Player - Tunewiki
Podcast - Beyond Pod
Stream - Slacker

All these equal Android musical/talk radio nirvana.

Lock screen integration?

Like a few other posters, I generally use the built-in Sense UI player on my Sprint Hero. I'm not crazy about it - it does the job adequately, but the UI could easily be improved (I've got near 8GB of MP3's on there, and it's hard to navigate).

But the one feature that the Sense player does have which no other music app I've found is that it integrates with the lock screen. So when my phone is locked, I can hit "menu" and instead of my usual lock screen coming up, I get a little picture of the album art, and buttons for pause, fast-forward, and rewind.

This is really useful, especially when I'm listening to podcasts or audiobooks and I get interrupted - with music it's no big deal to just pop out your headphones, talk for a minute, and then go back to the music, but with spoken-word things you need to pause it quickly (especially because seeking backwards to where you were in the track is awkward).

Does anyone know if any other player has some sort of similar lock-screen integration? Or at least some way to pause playback without needing to unlock the screen (via hardware buttons, maybe)?

bTunes for music, Google Listen for podcasts.

I wouldn't call them bugs as they don't effect music playback, but bTunes (the $$ version) still has a few quirks that irk me.

1) The 'auto repeat' full album setting is always ticked. I'd prefer it be set to nothing - similar to every other music player ever.

2) Back tracking a list/menu takes you to the top of that list, rather than where you left the menu. I've got 15GB of music with over 300 artists (working musicians unite). Say I scroll down and select Queen, then change my mind and back out to select Rush, I have to rescroll the entire list rather than start at the Queen entry.

Both minor little niggles.. but I'd give the app 5 stars once those are fixed.

3/cubed is also a great player. I'd prefer it over bTunes if my music library wasn't so cumbersome.

Currently using the Sense music player, but will start to take a look at some of the free apps out there.

After uploading most of my music library:
Moozone seems to be a great deal. 2GB of online music storage for free and streams to the phone (plus you can temporarily/perm download if you are going to lose signal). Media player is average, but works well. Even displays album art, which was an added bonus. I can now clear out most of my SD card.
Plus you can make playlists.
