2 days ago we had to say goodbye to our little 4lb pocket dog of 14 years, because he was reaching the last stages of cancer :'( It's the first time we've ever had to put a pet down, and it was heartbreaking. Don't mean to bring anyone down, but it's helped a little to share it. Enjoy your furry kids while you can, unfortunately they don't live near as long as we'd like them to

OMG that is so sad. It really hurts. I am sorry for your loss.

I lost Brandy and Billy to cancer in 2020. Billy was nearly 15 as well. Then we lost Ewok 3 weeks ago after he was knocked down by a car. We had to put him down as well. So I understand how painful this feels.

I agree that loving and cherishing your pets is important. I am glad I took so many photos of them because I have those memories forever.

We lost our cat Desmond to cancer in 2020. He wasn't even two years old. That hurts and we still think about him. Scout, who's 14 I think (my wife has had him longer than she's had me ) currently has cancer. He's a fighter. We think he's actually put on weight and he's still quite active.

What a terrible thing to happen. Don't ever feel like you're bringing us down - express yourself and your feelings. We love our fur babies and we join together in sympathy for you and your family.

Aw man, my condolences.:'( A few years ago, I had to put down our beloved tuxedo cat Baby, who lived to the ripe age of 17, but was becoming tired and miserable, I think due to liver problems. I thought I'd be fine, but I bawled when he finally went to sleep.

You guys are so awesome!!! The support has really helped... I don't feel so alone with it. I was like B Diddy, I thought I could be the strong one for my wife, but I was crying just as much as she was. I had a rough day today, but reading all the kind thoughts and seeing the pictures of happy pets loving life has helped. Thanks everyone

There is no shame at all in that. Sometimes I think when we all show emotion, it helps open up the possibility for further healing. Everyone gets their feelings out.

My father and brother both cried openly when our family cat got put down. And when our second family cat got sick last summer, my brother was the one who was most emotional. Pets are a big deal!

Hope you have better days ahead. It is definitely a difficult road. We are all here with you.

My husband cried when both Billy and Ewok were put down recently. He was with both of them when they passed. There is no shame at all. I am glad you got some comfort. I find this community on here to be really supportive and friendly and it is a great place to hang out.
