Accessing Internal Memory

Hi all,
Just got a Nexus 7 yesterday! I noticed that unlike android phones, any time I connect my Nexus to my PC, I am unable to view the entire contents of the tablet's internal memory (i.e. the other folders, files, documents, etc). When I connect via MTP +/- debugging, the Nexus shows as empty (I haven't put any files on my tablet yet). When I connect via PTP +/- debugging, all it shows is a 'DCIM' and 'Pictures' folder.

I tried searching the forums to figure this out - does anyone know how this can be fixed? Thanks for your help!

Edit: well - I switched from PTP to MTP, and somehow, this problem resolved. I don't know why that happened, but I apologize for unnecessarily making a thread about it. Feel free to delete this thread if needed.

In case it happens again just make sure when connecting as an mtp, make sure USB debugging is turned off or it won't connect as mass media...
