Hi there, I got my evo 3D on the 26th so I am still within the 30 days. Anyway, I checked my account and they automatically added the TEP for 7 dollars a month, without my request. They did for both my line and my brother's(we both got 3D's). Anyway, should I just leave it on there or is there a better option? I mean, I'm pretty careful with my phone, and I have an otterbox on it, but stuff happens and it'd be good to have that backup just in case my phone somehow gets broken/lost or stolen. Do you guys have TEP on your line? Is it a good idea to have? Or is it better to just buy personal property insurance from another company? My friend has personal property insurance and recently broke his laptop by stepping on it. They seemed to come through for him.

So yeah, should I get TEP from Sprint, insurance from another company, or just do without either?

I have the Sprint TEP and have found it useful on a premium device like the 3D. I had to use it on my EVO 4G and when I had a rebooting problem that was identified as a hardware problem, the device was replaced without a question. I even lucked out and got a new one instead of a refurb.

I went with best buys protection. No $100+. Copay if the phone is broke by you. Like dropping it or getting it wet. You are on your own if you lose it or have it stolen.

I hate that it's 7 more bucks a month on EACH phone! That would be 21 per month for me on a bill that's already 150. I think that's insane.

I keep the Sprint plan for the first year and then usually stop...my phone breaks after year one and they won't do anything for me I'll just upgrade.

I have it. It allows you to bring your phone to a sprint store and the tech will fix it if they can for free (no charge, no deductible). That service is great. The actual replacement service is ok, but it would be nice if they actually gave you a new phone and not a referb ... especially for a $100 deductable!

I have it and just had to bring my EVO 3D in for a screen issue and a USB issue. They took a look at the phone and checked for my Insurance plan then grabbed a new BOXED EVO3D and gave me it. BRAND NEW. Also.. with Best Buy ... I had the insurance before.. they took over 2 weeks to be able to get me a replacement phone... Sprints service was waaaay better as far as downtime was concerned. Sprint insurance isnt the BEST but I feel way more snappy on replacement.

Keep the TEP , you are protecting your investment. Besides if something happens and you have to use your insurance they overnight a phone to you. If you don't have insurance and your phone goes wonky, you are out around $500 because you chose to not get insurance.. I have had insurance on all my phones for the past few years, It's just part of the phone bill as far as I'm concerned.
