I just kinda thought of this, but I'm going to be making some how to videos for the epic and put them all in one place. Right now I'm planning on making an odin back to stock video, an ec05 update.zip video and a 2.5 and 3.0 root video. I figured it would be helpful to epic owners. If there are any more requests for how to videos just pm me or comment on this thread (treat)!

I've been wanting to Root for some time now, and didn't know where to start, so these are hugely helpful.
My question is this:
It seems that there are MANY different ways to root here, with different ROMs and Kernels and Clockwork, etc... Where do I start? Is there a 1st video that I should follow, before moving on to the rest? Or can I just up in on any of them?

For the root videos, watch the latest uploaded one.. which would be one click root CWM 3.1.0.1. Rom's, Syndicate 1.2 is the latest. Kernel, genocide and twilight zone are the latest.

Hi, i'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm a little confused after trying a couple of methods including SuperOneClick and Odin and my root was still unsuccessful. I have the SPH 700 running Gingerbread EI22, firmware 2.3.5. I am unsure which video I am supposed to be watching, all i want to do is root my phone. Can someone please help me out? Thank you!

Somewhat confused on what to do here, I rooted my sisters epic 4g a long time ago, and never needed to update it. The phone is having some problems now, so I want to update it... problem is she's on rooted DK28(gee, that was like a year and a half ago).
I'm wondering if I can just update her to the most recent CWM, wipe, and install a new rom, but I remember dk28 being slightly tricky. Her CWM version is 2.5.1.0, green text. Do I need to use odin to update it to gingerbread?
Edit:
Used Odin and flashed to stock, took like 5 mins. This'll do for now, don't feel like doing anything else lol. I'll look into some roms and root her crap for better performance later.
