[ACS][ROM] Leaf Rom - 0.2

Thanks for typing that out. One issue: when I try to copy the bin folder, I get "cp: can't create symlink '/mnt/sdcard/backup/bin/bin/filename' : Operation not permitted". The other three worked and the app had su privileges. Any ideas?

If someone showed me how to take the rfs file and replace /dev/stl12 with it, I could. But, only if it is possible through adb. My app just opens up cmd.exe in Windows and runs adb commands hidden in the background. Nice and simple. :)

Hmmm even though it gave me those errors when I did cp -r /system/bin /mnt/sdcard/backup/bin my file explorer still shows a bunch of files in my sdcard/backup/bin folder.

Edit - As I suspected the file sizes of the actual bin folder vs the one that errored while copying verifies that they did not copy successfully. 8.61 mb vs 4.79

I'm not sure what the symlink errors mean. I'm sorry, I can't test at the moment. Maybe the recursive flag has to be capitalized? "cp -R" I'm not sure if it's case sensitive. Any ideas here, Dmrlook?

Use the dd command I posted earlier. It will definitely get all relevant files, and follow the symbolic links as well.

Okay I'm good now. I wanted to have the files as well as an image on my computer just in case. I used the DD command and made the of a .iso this time. Magic ISO let me mount the imagine in Windows and I was able to successfully get all the files out of the image. Time to put on LeafROM :D

Success!! Now no offense to Shabby, but how would I go about restoring my stock boot animation? I have the files from my backup--is it as simple as pushing the old files and deleting the bootanimation.zip or??

-- While I'm interested in restoring the stock animation, I will be looking into UOT ones too. That site is never up when I can look at it.

EDIT: Also, could I replace build.prop with my EF27 build.prop to stop receiving system update messages?

You can delete /data/local/bootanimation.zip and it will be back to normal. I also tried the build.prop, but it didn't work for me. Let me know if it works for you, I'd like to do it if it does.

Hey, no worries. You manage two roms, and you've got your own personal life. It's not like were doing much but mooching your work. ;) We all obviously enjoy your work, it's worth waiting for.

Not to get any hopes up here, but I'm beginning in Android app development. It's not so difficult after I got a feel for it.. I don't know if you could safely update your rom using my methods, but I'm working on the ability to customize the rom in every way that ShabbyLeaf allows. This would allow for everyone to customize LeafRom easier regardless of your OS! :) There is already a great app out call ACS Updater, but it requires a custom kernel and recovery, so I figure this would hold us over until then if I make progress. Any thoughts or suggestions?

This looks very interesting... Look very forward to it... so basically we can make our own custom ROMs thanks to Shabby and Firehak.. I only got to scan the threads this morning.. but when I get home from work I am going to reRead these threads I been watching and take a closer look at this ShabbyLeaf and her golden treasures and possibly rerunning my phone out on one... Problem is Shabby, I don't know what else to ask for because my phone already ROCKS now!! :p ....So WTF!? :)

like he said.:p
so will the new rom come with updates of ef27?

I'm making a little bit of progress here, so I thought I'd share a teaser and see what you guys think. Here's a screenshot of the dashboard. For whatever reason, a screen cast doesn't tint the colors, so I took a print screen of a screen cast, which made the resolution way bigger.

So this is an app for it?will we be able to make a theme or customize it by using that app?..th status bar look sweet nd the app too

The app itself isn't to build a custom rom, it will do what ShabbyLeaf already does (minus updating your rom). It should let you browse to a file and apply a theme or boot animation, remove bloat, and an about screen :P Now, I say "should" because I'm still BRAND NEW to both Android and app development. It's very similar to languages I already know, and I've gotten a lot of help from the developer of ACS Updater, but I'm having trouble with making the interface. The code itself should be easy once the UI works the way I want :)
