activating VoLTE advanced calling on my Note 5 got me kicked off grandfathered unlimited data plan...

I'm confused, what does one have to do the other? Fortunately, Verizon's rep was able to revert it... but only after deactivating VoLTE advance calling on my line...... :(

has this happened to anyone?

Thanks!

Wow.. I activated VoLTE shortly after getting my s6 edge plus and didn't encounter that

My friends that have unlimited all have advanced calling on without an issue. Something is definitely going on and I would call them about it.

Did somehow you can instead activated a pending order / pending activation / pending upgrade or whatever you kids are calling it these days

Did you call or go to the store for this?

Go to a Verizon corporate store about a line that still has unlimited is a big no-no. :)

However, I was able to get Verizon tier 2 supervisors to look at my account.
They don't have a definitive answer. However, they suspect that it's my ancient
calling plan combined with unlimited data plan that's causing it. Even when they
active advanced calling for me, it still kicked me off unlimited. I'm not really
willing to keep pushing this for fear of losing unlimited irrevocably. I only tried
to activate advanced calling to see what all the fuss was about. I've never
had any voice call issues in my area. On the other hand, the Verizon
tier 2 supervisor told me she has escalated this to Verizon engineers with
the "highest priority" because I have been a customer continuously for
20 years(since Bell Atlantic Mobile). The supervisor has call my home
twice already, but only to tell me that they were still working to find the root
cause of this "glitch" in the system.

I highly suspect the rep saw an opportunity. :)

You can do this yourself on the My Verizon app.

no Verizon reps were ever involved... all three times I did it myself.
Twice on the Note 5 itself(in settings -> advanced calling menu)
and the third time on the Verizon website. In all three cases, my
unlimited data plan turned into 2gb data plan later that day when
I logged into my Verizon account.

after each time, I had to call Verizon on the phone and the rep
was able to revert that line back to unlimited data pretty quickly.

You definitely seem to be the only one I have heard with this issue. All my buddies iwth Verizon unlimited add Advanced Calling and get VoLTE without any issue.

Interesting.

Going to lean towards Droid3r's comment.

The Verizon supervisor called me earlier today and told me the problem was fixed.

They discovered a code or a "trigger" in my account that was leftover from my BellAtlanticMobile plan from 1996. It's still grandfathered on my account as of today. In fact, my monthly statement still has a line that says BellAtlantic Mobile. Somehow that's causing a conflict with the Verizon system.

The supervisor said I should never activate advanced calling by myself. She said anytime I want to activate or deactivate the feature, I need to call Verizon tier 2 support and have the tech do it manually. (in order to avoid messing up my unlimited data plan again)
