I've added an existing gmail account to my new s-4. I am afraid to click the "sync gmail" because I ONLY want new incoming emails to sync with this account. I DO NOT want the old emails to sync. Can anyone suggest how I can correctly adjust the settings to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance.

In the Gmail app settings you can specifiy how many days of mail you want to sync. I assume you would only want it to sync the last day of mail.

I am looking in the sync settings now for this account. I am not seeing the option for a date parameter. hmmmm. maybe I am in the wrong place. Would this setting of the date parameters affect the other gmail accounts as well?

When you're in the gmail app. Go to settings > tap the account name and then there's the option "select days of mail to sync"

The setting is per account so you can have different accounts sync for different ranges.
