Adjustments, tips and tricks to maximize Battery Life on Samsung Galaxy S6/edge

What about doze is that any good?
Doze works in a similar regard except it isolates apps from accessing the Internet in the background, again this leads to improved standby time.

The reason these apps leads to increased battery life for some is that battery that was previously lost in standby is now used up during active use and thus screen on time is improved. If you lose 20% for an hour of screen on time and with Greenify/Doze you end up with an extra 10% battery after your work day then you have essentially gained 30 minutes of screen on time which you previously would have lost. Of course, these numbers are hypothetical and your results will vary greatly, in my case I don't use any of those apps as I find Doze didn't provide a noticeable improvement while Greenify annoyed me since it would flash the screen to turn off apps in the background.

Try putting your device on airplane mode while sleeping, the drain should be minimal, I mean bad signal where it rests may be a possibility, so if you have followed most of the suggestions here, other than let it charging overnight or in airplane mode there is not too many options left.

My phone said 96% when I took it off the charger today when it told me my phone was fully charged. Gosh the S6 is weird sometimes

I'm staying in a place without WiFi, so I turned off WiFi, mobile reception is still crap and battery is the best I have ever seen it. It's acting like KitKat.

Seriously shocked that I got over 5hrs SOT today. Previous best was a little over 4hrs. Things I did differently, started using Greenify instead of Shutapp and turned off Wi-Fi.

Battery life is ok on 4G coverage but I live in an area that only has one bar of 4G and constantly switches between 4G and 3G on my phone. I still do not understand why the S6 drains the battery in about double the time on four bars of 3G coverage than on one bar of 4G

Im in Melbourne SE Suburbs very close to the city and i have never seen more than 1 bar reception on 4g when indoors.

I'm not sure about the 3g vs 4g but perhaps 1 bar of 4g is a higher quality connection than 3 bars of 3g but I'm not fully sure, just a theory.

First time off the charger since flashing the Australian firmware and already even with it reading 93% almost immediately I got back to getting over six hours screen on time off the charger

Can't believe that i just got 6hr SOT with WiFi off. I'm pretty convinced that WiFi has been the culprit of my battery woes. Will have to do more testing to confirm.

I'm starting to think that the Australian firmware is built for better battery management. I just wish I knew why my phone automatically reads 98% instead of 100% when I take it off the charger. It's pissing me off

It could be Australian firmware but I think through following Erasats tips our phones are now setup in a similar way.

For you battery issue you should ask on the XDA forums they have some very techy guys on there.

True but I know of people that follow Erasats tips like us that don't get the kind of battery life that we do. I know on the Indian firmware I was averaging five and a half hours screen on time and immediately when I flashed the Australian firmware on my phone my first two charges I immediately got over six hours so it's definitely something to think about

Yeh your probably right, I also saw people on aus whirlpool forum with very good SOT.

Have you tried calibrating your battery? I saw this app that may be able to help https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...id=com.nema.batterycalibration&token=8Mwrgn9-

I'm going to try this one seeing the app you suggested needs the phone to be rooted. I didn't root my phone cause I wanna take advantage of telstras "new phone feeling" and upgrade twelve months into my contract for $149 to get the S7

Didn't work. Phone still at 96% once fully charged. I don't want to trade it in for a replacement because other than this thing that annoys the hell out of me I love the battery life I'm getting and don't want to risk getting another one but seriously -__-

So clever you got the 'new phone feeling' I should have done that. I will probably have to put mine on eBay.

I'd take my battery meter being slightly wonky to get your SOT. I show 100% when fully charged but only for maybe 5 or 10 minutes tops before it starts to drop. So if your getting 5 1/2 hours SOT that sounds pretty darn good. I recall awhile back your complaint was really much poorer battery life and way less SOT. Your S6 sounds great other than the meter. I have OCD and while stuff like that bugs me I think you got the better end of the deal. So maybe don't look at the meter when you unplug it and enjoy all that power to spare and you'd never know.
