Adoptable Storage

Having upgraded my M8 to Marshmallow I am tempted to reset and re-install everything when I get time over the weekend.
I currently have all my music and some downloaded SatNav maps on an SD card.

I need to decide whether to use the SD card as adoptable storage or not

Has anyone tried this yet?

I have opted to NOT use my memory card as adoptable storage.
It wipes the card, then encrypts it and marries it to the device.
IF for some reason you have an issue with the device you cant recover anything on the card as its encrypted.
OR if the card were to fail then you would have serious issues since its part of the devices internal guts.

I could live with those, but for me the dealbreaker seems to be that (from what I have read so far) with my 16GB internal memory and my 64GB card, I would only get 64GB total, not 80GB

So the SD card is solely treated as the 'internal' memory? That actually sounds much better than having two internal memories/partitions.

When I had my HTC OneX, I had 32GB of memory, and it was much nicer to have everything in one place. No apps/photos/videos/downloads being spread across the partitions.

From what I have read you only see one area of storage, and that is approx the size of the SD card.

Took the plunge and did a factory reset and set up adoptable storage

Before: Internal using 15.32 out of 16GB
SD using 40.73 out of 59.72GB

You can see both in file manager on the phone, and you can move apps/data between internal and SD

After:
Total 50.31 or 74.7GB in use
10.41 of 16GB internal
39.9 of 58.75GB SD

You can do pretty much the same thing on earlier versions of Android (or Marshmallow) if you root and run External 2 Internal SD (Root). It mounts the card as internal (sd0) storage and the eMMC (the chip in the phone) as external (sd1) storage. Without encrypting the card.
