Alarm Clock Extreme snooze conflict with calendar reminder

My wife recently upgraded from a Galaxy S3 to a Galaxy S6 and she is having the same issue with Alarm Clock Extreme that she had on her old device. When her alarm goes off in the morning she is sometimes unable to snooze the alarm by shaking the device. She has to enter her security code to unlock the phone, snooze any calendar reminders that recently triggered (using the Calendar Snooze app) and then she is finally able to snooze Alarm Clock Extreme. Until she does that the song she selected as her alarm gradually gets louder (crescendo). Any idea why this is happening? Is it because of the calendar event reminders firing off before her alarm goes off? Come to think of it I used to experience the same problem with my S4.

Followup...I just confirmed this on my own S6. I created a calendar event with a reminder that was to go off one minute before my alarm was to go off. With my phone on silent mode I saw the reminder popup on my screen but I did not touch it. One minute later my alarm started to go off (crescendo) and I could not snooze it until my screen was unlocked and my calender reminder was dismissed (or snoozed). So to summarize....for some reason the "snooze screen" does not display when a calender event reminder has occurred PRIOR to the alarm time.

Problem solved. By using Lollipop's DO NOT DISTURB feature I disabled EVENTS AND REMINDERS while allowing ALARMS, CALLS, and MESSAGES. I set up a schedule to enable DND mode for a 5 minute period. During that 5 minute period I had a calendar reminder fire off (it actually popped up on the screen which worried me for a second) and then one minute later my alarm triggered. When the alarm triggered the SNOOZE SCREEN showed up this time and I was able to shake to snooze. After snoozing I unlocked the device and still saw my calendar reminder which meant I didn't lose that notification as a side effect. All of this I did while still in the 5 minute DND time window.

Hopefully this will help others out there that have experienced the same issue!

BTW, the only thing I wish the DND feature had was the ability to set the schedule on a day by day basis. Currently you can only select what day(s) to enable DND but they all use the same time window. I guess you can't have everything.

I also tried another workaround which I thought would work out but turns out it did not. I went into App Notifications and tried to give the Alarm Clock Extreme notification "priority" over other notifications but all this does is put it on top of the notifications list. It does not actually allow the snooze screen to appear when a calendar notification fires off prior to the alarm going off.

Well I thought I had solved the problem but it appears that I only solved part of the problem. Last night my wife's phone was in DND mode, the Volume Rocker preset was set to silent, and when her alarm went off this morning it did not display the SNOOZE screen, only the lock screen. She received no emails/text overnight nor did any calendar reminder events trigger. Now I'm puzzled. The only thing I can think of doing now is uninstalling and re-installing the app just so that I can ensure it was the last app installed (i.e. after Google Calendar, Calendar Snooze, and Volume Rocker Pro) and any settings it may require are not overridden by one of the those three apps being installed after Alarm Clock Extreme was installed.

I am open to any suggestions or possible explanations for this app misbehaving. I am having so such issue on my own S6. We received both of the phones at the same time just over a week ago. The only difference between the two is hers is 32GB and mine is 64GB.
